Can any body tell me if it is possible to remove the rear wheel with the bike sitting on just the centre stand?
Thanks.

Thats the traditional way to do it with most bikes with a centre stand.

With all my centre stand bikes i used bits of floor boards / wood to jack the bike up by tilting the bike to one side on the centre stand and placing say one piece of wood under and then tilting the other way and placing two pieces of wood and so on until the wheel is clear of the mudguard / number plate.
On side stand only bikes i used a scissor jack (with wood) with straps to the roof beams to prevent tilting.

Hi guys, thank you for the replies. All is now clear.

@ mtriderrob. 40 years that's impressive. Interesting that yours is a HE, mine too, Vincent Viagra is his name. Very Happy Maybe you have removed the rear wheel at least once in all that time, any hints or tips?
Cheers, Terry.

I tend to stick a 2" board on the floor under the centre stand as it gives the rear wheel a bit of a lift and makes it easier to slip the wheel out once you remove the spindle.
Mine is 1 owner from new (me) and there are only 4 nuts on my bike (5 if you include me)that have never been undone - they hold the big end caps on. I did a major restoration this year and he looks brand new once again

Nice, and the pillion looks a lot more comfy for my wife. Mine is 23 years old, still going strong. The bike, not the wife. Laughing Laughing Laughing
