Oh, that's ok then. I mean it's not as if NI is a part of the UK, is it?

Do you think if we just offered to give it to the EU that they'd take it?

Because that would solve a whole load of problems.

Maybe Spain would like it instead of Gibraltar?

I bet the EU would take it in a heartbeat. After all, they want all of the UK*.
I once sometimes thought that way myself. But what would we be doing - solving one set of problems, only to create another equally contentious set?
For now, NI is a sovereign part of the UK. We should defend it as such. We didn't let the Falkland Islands go, as the majority of that population wished to remain under British sovereignty. Why treat NI differently?

*Or is it just London they're after? Thinking

That's the problem with democracy, it gets in the way of politicians doing what they want. Whistle

I don't think you could accuse Maggie Thatcher of wanting to get shot of the Falklands?

One of the biggest employers (DE&S) would need to move back to the UK.

One of the main differences was that something like 99.99% of Falkland Islanders voted to stay with Britain. This wouldn't be so for NI.

Taking a balanced view, I'm sure (probably in my lifetime) that as a new generation rises (with no memory of the trouble) and religious tensions calm, we WILL see a united Ireland.

The question should be whether we might as well do that now... it would certainly solve one major Brexit headache.

Looks like Biden is one of those `Murican idiots who think they're Irish because they have some ancestor from the old sod. Im wondering if for some dumb sentimental reasons he's going to try and play this to get a referendum moving.

Sick of hearing all about how the 'home nations' might all get into Euro2020 tonight.

Mainly aimed around Scotland, who are so shi1te the last time they were in a major championship Blair had just become PM.

All implicitly implied that we should all be supporting them, even though they would like nothing better than for England not to qualify.
