Hi all, me and my Honda CB100 again. Have tried finding other threads with similar issue but to no avail so will open it all to you.
I bought the bike recently and it was stalling a lot the first few times I rode it, as well as emitting some smoke. Assumed/ read it was likely to be a carb issue so took it apart to clean (my first experience with motorcycle mechanics). Blasted it all with carb cleaner, put it back together and switched the fuel petcock on - no fuel filling the bowl. Read the float is possibly stuck so took it apart again, gave it another spray, and all parts seem to be moving fine (see video). Put back together and turned petcock on - still no fuel. Took the bowl off and turned the petcock on and fuel came out as it’s supposed to, so I’m confident it is a float issue, and when I am replacing the bowl, the pin is somehow blocking the valve. I didn’t move/change the tang (is that the correct word?) so wondering what it could be?
Thanks.

So these are the parts (roughly)

The float valve is going to have a flat part, channel or something for the fuel to flow past as the valve drops. If the fuel won't flow till you remove it entirely then either you have mismatched parts or there's still some gunk up there.

Does it have a fuel filter. Is it blocked?

drop float bowl remove float and valve then turn on fuel
with can to catch spillage
Its probably the rubber tip of the valve got stuck in the seat
if so buy new valve.
you only need a new float if the old is fubar

Is that the correct float (coming up as brass) and could the bowl be lifting the float when fitting?

With the bowl off, see how far up you need to move the float to stop the fuel (or blow down the fuel hose and raise the float by hand if you don't want to spill fuel.)

Incidentally, that float valve doesn't look right. Is it a 1980's CB100N with a horrible cable operated disc brake or a really early CB100 from about 1970?

If it's the former, that needle valve looks round in cross section, the needle valve should look like this.

This was my thought, that somehow the bowl is pushing the float up.

@stinkwheel it’s a 1987 model, and the pin looks as in your image!
