The lane is wide enough for a bin lorry? so whats the problem? This twonk would have to have a massively long bike to block the lane so just ride past him. So what if he doesn't say hello or nod hello or even if he throws some verbal. Just ignore and ride on.

Hi Guys,

Well I wanted to conclude this topic and bring it to a close.

Today when riding my bike from the garage to the front of the house in order to do some work on my car in the garage, I heard an 'oi!' from said neighbour. Decided this was the best time for confrontation.

Stopped bike, rolled it back to his gate and asked him what's up.

After a while of talking, I took my helmet off too, to show I was being open and 'unprotected' and was not stand offish.

It seems he was just a bit worried that I might have been a typical illegal riding teen riding around the backlanes and said there are sometimes problems with people racing up and down the lane. The sound of two strokes (even just commutor 2t's) can bring back memories of dubious riding to those old enough I suppose.. Whether him shouting at me every time I passed was an invitation for a talk or what I don't know..,

but In the end we talked for probably almost half an hour just about bikes, the area in general, work, our biking and car history. I put accross as much as I could that I am an amateur mechanic and he seemed satiated that I occasionally do stuff for problem solving and not because I'm just tearing around making a nusence of myself..

I still think it was a bit much to shout at me the way he did considering he could see that I actually live in the same street as him and he has actually spoken to me in the past about my CX when riding down the lane (I didn't recognise him with helmet etc on).. Whever.

He was sound and was pleasant - definately the opposit of what he was the first time we saw eachother, and I am happy to be to put a line under this and not be concerned anymore.

So you assumed he was an @rse, and therefore that assumption was self fulfilling?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Go around and knock on his door with a 2lb ball pein.

That should let him know which side you butter your bread on.

Un-hinged or not a 2lb hammer is a great for levelling things.

So, three screens of advice and discussion and all that was required to solve the situation was to talk the bloke.

Someone who blocks the alley with their bike, screams and swears at passing bikers and thinks they can dictate to anyone which end of their alley they may or may not use is a cock-end no matter which colour you paint it.

We all rushed to the wrong conclusions about the man. We assumed it was a Harleyist, tool roll and lock-knife and military ration packs and everything. But, from the sounds of it, he rides a cruiser made by some other company.
