Bit of a specialised Nest thermostat question.

Ok so picking the brains of any Nest thermostat installers.

Recently fitted a Nest learning thermostat to my boiler. Did away with the old wireless heat controller and the ancient hot water timer. All works fine.

My question (which I can't find an answer to ) is in eco mode it can tell when you've left the house and reduces the heat call. It then senses when you are coming home again and turns the heat on accordingly, they call it geofencing.

The thing is the nest app installs on your mobile and probably uses your sim card and location settings to geofence. So if you installed on two mobiles (mine and the wife's ) would it work with two or is it bound to one?

The situation being if I am away and the wife at home it wouldn't go into the eco mode because it would be aware of my wife's phone location. If we are both away it would go into eco mode, but would respond if either phone came back within range?

You can add more than one device and the geofencing won’t shut off the heat.

Thanks for that. To work the google home app needs to be on any family member phone. The nest app alone won't work. Big brother
