Hi folks,
It's been quite a few years since I last posted here. I sort of got sidetracked into facebook and am ashamed to say I've only really been visiting here to view the off topic stuff lol.
Anyway, I thought I would make my posting return with a little showing off of my lockdown project. (Visiting parents in France left me with a 2 week isolation on my return).
Lets see if I remember how to post pictures.....
This is the bike as it stood. The sidecar was on a Jawa TS350 which I then sold on.

The tub was quite tatty, the red paint was very sun faded in places.

Sanded and masked the tub, and then started priming, and then the colour coat.

The colour I used wasn't an exact match to the bike, but it's close enough to keep me happy.

I eventually took the mudguard apart entirely to paint it better, and so that i could adapt it for my new lights.

Sidecars are not really my thing, however, I have to say you’ve done a fine job on that .
Yeh, big thumbs up
Hmm? I can’t think why, but I seem to be thinking about Wallace & Gromit right now ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

It very different to riding a bike/trike/car. You have to lean a lot more than you would think. Literally hanging over the sidecar for quick left hand bends to try and keep the sidecar wheel down. IT'S SO MUCH FUN! lol.
The fastest I've managed with the outfit is 80mph, but it really is more at home at slower speeds, and much more enjoyable on twisties than straight road.
Straight roads require continual steering input, which gets very boring and tiring.
You can really have fun on the country roads, and I have no problems keeping up with solo bikes.
On open roads its a different story however..... lol
The single 500cc enfield is great for the outfit. It launches well from standstill, and is quirky enough to not look out of place with the sidecar attached. Nice and comfy riding position too.
Its a small enough outfit to still be able to filter a bit (especially when you forget your on an outfit and start to filter up the outside of a queue of traffic at a light.....you can still squeeze back in at the front lol)
The rig isn't heavy enough to really try to steer you under braking/acceleration unless its fully loaded, but you can use this to your advantage with a braked sidecar wheel, dabbing it on to help left handers, and dabbing the bike brake on right handers.
I have a brake on the wheel, but no lever set up yet. That will be the next project show and tell. ____________________ My Bikes - - - Royal Enfield 500 with sidecar, VFR800, CBR600FX,

That looks horribly wrong to me. Possibly a combination of a right-handed side-car and going anticlockwise around the roundabout. Ugh! My 'ead feels like a cabbage! |
