Just need to rant !

I’ve not long moved house so needed to notify my insurance of change of address.
Two bikes with different companies.
Swinton charged me £25 just to change address on my insurance certificate Twisted Evil £25 fugking quid! Evil or Very Mad

Bennetts charged me £32 just to change address on my insurance certificate Twisted Evil Twisted Evil .

Fugking robbing bar-stewards! I’ll bet all they have to do is type in the new address and press ‘save’

Am I the only mug or are others being stitched up as well?

LUL that's cheap.

To make a change to your policy we would need to speak to you to confirm your new details. Depending on the change you make to your policy, there will be an administration fee applicable of between £17.50 and £70.50.

Mid-term adjustment fee's are to be expected, and given you've changed your address I'd say you've gotten away lightly in both cases.

Change of address isn't one you can afford not to declare sadly, but on the whole I'd adapt the policy of not contacting them where possible between the start and end date... so not at all?

Try Bemoto at renewal. They don't charge MTA fees.

Bennets charged me £50 to cancel a policy when they should have been paying me most of that back for unused months.

They usually offer £50 off a new policy taken out within the next 12* months to offset this.

Also, some insurers allow you to update on-line at no cost versus taking up the time of their cubicle drones valuable workers Smile

Since insurance premiums became fair game on t' Internet the premiums have dropped. Easier to shop around so insurers have to pitch properly.
I don't know what's the difference in paying for a certificate from company A or B.
Unless there's a claim and one would hope the more expensive premiums buy better service.
The shockerooni cheap as chips brokers seem to have shite customer service.
There used to be standards for working as insurance staff but algorithms run it all now.

Did you think your new address could be higher risk than your old one?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

That's pretty consistent with admin fees.

Hmm? I’d think not, I’m guessing that moving from just outside Ipswich to a small village 7 miles outside Norwich would be less of a risk?

You've moved from Ipswich to rural Norfolk and you don't understand the extra risks? Shocked

I’ve been lucky in that every time I’ve updated details, my risk has been reduced so the admin fee was offset by the lower premium so ended up paying next to nothing.

End of the day though, the “admin” fees are fecking crazy, especially when you’re updating details online.

They are. But there's reasons. Price comparison site fees are worse.

I only found yesterday that Admiral owns Confused.com (though they are about to sell it) which I was really surprised about; surely sounds like a conflict of interest or something? Especially when I think how often I've ended up buying Admiral products from price comparison sites over the years... Rolling Eyes
