I am not indulging in *that*! They are not for sale, so are Cornish pasties. I have eaten two, 'cos they're only little ones. I'd better freeze the other two, quick!

The mobile signal I receive at work now that I've switched networks is on a par with my wi-fi at home.

Oh yes, I'm a complete quaeer.. (soft brown sugar). I'm pretty sure that Ogri would have used engine oil on his porridge though.

Proper teddy oggies are the biz.
My grandmother was a Cornish woman, taught my mother how to do them. She passed the recipe on to me. Very simple, and that's the key.
Best ones I've had beyond that were from a shop in Tintagel, and there was a place in Looe that did them right. Alas I avoid pastry nowadays.

We're not allowed to use our holidays at the moment.
But its likely we will be allowed to roll our annual leave (or a portion of it) into next year, but I haven't used any from this year yet.
(I usually save most of my days so that I can have shorter weeks through the worst of winter).

But technically I will have up to 54 days owing to me.
I feel a soft southern breeze on my cheek already Laughing

I finally found enough energy to return to my back garden, which is heinously overgrown, and I made enough of a dent in it to motivate myself to go back out there on the next sunny(ish) day and rip out some more.

It's not nearly as bad as I thought, because right at the back its mostly all empty under the canopy growth. But its bad enough: brambles and a climbing rose that just will not quit. There's even a tree that's about 10 feet high that was not there 3 years ago (!) I never planted the cunt, I have no idea what it is Laughing

Had to hack the rosemary bush back just to get in the gate, LOL. But it will survive. It was one of the first things I put in when I moved here in 2007. But I discovered years ago that when you rip or hack a branch off, several more grow back in its place.

Rosemary likes a bit of rough handling Wink

Odds are it's elder. It's not actually a tree and is considered a weed.

10' high? Perhaps she's made an ash of the measurement.

I've always know them as a bush but the woodland trust apparently call them a tree - they do grow up to about 12m. but why a weed? We have two of them, the flowers and the berries can be used (cordial, wine, jam etc...). They're also great for birds and insects Smile

Well, I'm not so sure - I have a small black elder (Sambucus Niger, which I am trying to grow for decorative purposes) in a pot by the back doorstep, and I think it has different leaves. Thinking
But I will pay attention when the leaves return and see if its the green version, just in case.

But with a bit of luck I will have acquired a lopper by then, and will have the swine thing down before it gets a chance to sprout leaves.

I have to admit, I tend to perceive elder as a weed, too.
We had one in the garden at the flat I owned in Fulham and it absolutely stunk of that awful elder cat-pee smell. I was put right off trying elderflower cordial for years because of it. I can just about tolerate it now.

Although ......... the birds and insects aspect might be almost enough for me to keep it (but under heavily-pruned control).

I think its something else, I'm sure its got more sort of palmate (is that a word?) leaves, if I remember the few times I've inspected it from the safety of my bedroom window Laughing

Today my gears are oiled by having cleared one of my two fairly hefty credit card debts.
So that's a huge weight off my mind Rolling Eyes
And at least two hundred quid a month extra in my pocket (so I can clear the other one even quicker).
