Wondering if anyone can help, noticed my rear brake caliper moving a lot when the bike was up on the rear stand. I've not noticed this before wondering if there could be a problem, maybe a warped disc or something? Video of the caliper below.

Place a fixed point near the disc as it spins and see if the gap increases / decreases as you spin the wheel slowly by hand. Is the rear wheel in straight?

Either a warped disc or one that's not running parallel with the wheel. Check for corrosion between the disc and the wheel. Probably need a new disc now anyway, you can even see where it's worn oddly by striking the pad.

I think the replies above are most likely to be correct regarding the warped disc - but it could also be worth checking that your wheel bearings are not shot by checking the wheel for play vis-a-vis the axle.

What were the symptoms you experienced during a ride that made you feel you needed to put the bike on the stand and look for an issue, or have you found this by chance?

Something's bent, or misaligned: either the rear wheel or the disc. In either case, and until you find the issue and replace the part, I wouldn't ride that again.

Discount the brake calliper for now, and remove it from the bracket and leave it hanging loose. Look at the brake disc from above (dead straight downwards) and from behind (dead straight from behind) and see if there's visible wobble. I'm sure you can get run-out gauges to test for this, but if its wobbling enough to see I'd be replacing it.

In terms of the wheel you can, as suggested, check the bearings; but usually you'd feel this to some degree during a ride if they were on their way out. Hold the rear wheel with one hand at centre top and one hand at centre bottom and wobble left to right: if there's any strange noises or play then they need replacing.

Other things that spring to mind as a possible cause are: bent wheel axle, wheel misaligned during chain adjustment or axle not torqued up to spec.

You may also, once fixed, want to look at replacing the rear brake pads as that wobble may have caused damage to one, or both, of the face of the pads currently in there.

Bit difficult to say in your video as you don't keep the camera still enough for long enough...but has this bike been standing for a while and the disc is "etched" and its corroded where the pads have been sat on the disc.....

The disc is definitely not running true . It needs replacing. Can you not feel some unevenness in the rear brake when you apply the brake pedal?
Towards the end of the clip where we can use the swing arm as a fixed point, the rim can be seen to be running absolutely true, the disc and caliper are seen to move all over the place. A major MOT fail (must not use the vehicle until fixed) for sure.

The checks that need to be done are , swinging arm bearings , rear wheel bearings ,disc runout , in that order .
Simple isn't it.

Yeah, about six months ago outside The Great Harry in Woolwich.
Done that, too!

Left the chain wrapped around the back wheel and locked on.
I think I managed to get away with just ripping off half of the rear fender bracket off the Sportster.

Still ride-awayable, but it really does need to be welded back on before the fender starts wobbling itself into buggery Mad

Showing off, no.
Drunk, no.
Being a bit of a Snarley poser, guilty m'lud.
