Think ive broken a finger. Confused but its a long since damaged finger with a severed nerve, so i cant properly bend it or feel with it anyway. Was taking compression sleeves off after a run, heard a snap which i thought was elastic, and my wonky finger is wonkier than before.

Previously could never quite fully close it when gripping or making a fist, since yesterday I can no longer fully straighten it with an open hand, and the very tip of my finger is at a 33 degree angle to the rest of my fingers.

Could be a ligament or tendon. Either way doesn't sound good . . . have you been to A&E? I say this because not sure a GP can do much about a broken finger or other such issues.

Hope you get it sorted. Thumbs Up

Could be mallet finger - did it once playing rugger.
Fixed with a home made splint or buy on line - can't leave it to long without splint or finger tip will remain permanently bent..

Google is your friend.

Yeah it is Mallet Finger, the official verdict, i am in a&e waiting for xray result and referal to plastic / muscular clinic. Saw a hospital physio first

The snap i heard was my tendon breaking, not the elastic in my socks.

It must be a sock thing.. did mine when my finger got caught in the sock of the chap I was tackling (or at least attempting to tackle).. Hold it straight in the splint for a couple of week is all that's needed if I recall.

Is Mallet Finger related to Water Hammer?

Asking for a plumber.

I have the opposite problem. If I use a screwdriver or wrench at the wrong angle I end up dislocating a finger. Somewhat annoying.
