 |
|
Hello there!
I have absolutely fallen in love with the BSA M20, that motorcycle has something unique.
After searching through all the well-known brand catalogs and some less-known motorcycle shops, I still haven't found a model that has that long shape, sit height, handlebar height, and space in the rear mudguard for saddlebags and utility that the M20's got.
The closest thing I have found are, funny enough, the Ural models, but they come with a sidecar and are notoriously unreliable. I asked this same question on my flight-sim forum, and they sent me looking for the W800, the Bonneville Bobber, and the CCM Spitfires, but none of those really hit the mark.
Appreciate the help! Please find a picture of the M20 I'm talking about attached to this post.
Cheers! |

Another vote for the Bullet There may be other retro knock-offs out there but Enfield has the numbers and more importantly the parts and support to keep it going. ____________________ Royal Enfield Continental GT 535, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 or 500. If you want the proper old fashioned feeling then a pre-unit (pre 2009), it's an old Brit bike the Indians forgot to stop making , gear shifter on right, rear brake on left, shift pattern 1 up, 3 down, interesting brakes. Don't cost the earth to buy and parts are plentiful.
If you want old looking without the actual old features then a Royal Enfield Bullet (or classic, same bike different cosmetics), post 2009. These have a Unit construction engine, fuel injection, brakes that brake, shifter and rear brake in normal place and a 5 speed box that has a "normal" shift pattern. It's still an aircooled pushrod single though so feels closer when riding to an older Enfield than any modern big single.
You can actually buy a hard tail rear and a girder front to make a pre-unit look fairly similar to that pic of a BSA. |

It would certainly be for riding.
What I am thinking of is:
1. Buy a Classic 500 (post-2009).
2. Bolt on a rack on the rear.
3. Leave it as is after that and enjoy the bike . |

Why not go full retard and get a pre-unit enfield bullet and fit a Hitchcocks "ridgid bullet" kit for authentic 1940's style piles and lumbar spine compression?
