I had someone make an offer on a guitar but they're over in North London (I don't think they read "Collection Only" on the listing.) But I'm considering asking a higher price and biking it over to them.

1) How does that play against the backdrop of Covid? Hermes, DHL, et al are obviously carrying on regardless. In the great scheme of things one might consider there being less human contact (me to customer vs me to courier, courier to customer) I dunno...

As an aside I don't have a suitable box and I wouldn't use a courier for guitars anyway. Many moons ago I bought a Tenor Ukulele and the box got stomped and the neck broken Sad Never again.

2) Flipping it the other way entirely I'm wondering if there'd be much call for local courier work. More an excuse to get out of the house than the money. It's the sort of thing I could easily work in with my main job, I quite often do some coding on a Sunday just so I slack off Monday Smile

I dunno, I envision something more classy than Deliveroo Very Happy Gods, I'm bored.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

What makes you think that they haven't read the bit which says collection only?

I clocked the post code and messaged them, they acted surprised Sad

With regards to "casual" courier work the sticking point is always insurance, feel a bit thick now Doh!

<addendum> wow... just checked: adds a couple of bags to my insurance Shocked And that's just a parcel work, not even for food delivery!

Regarding insurance, usually the term refers to goods owned by someone else, but in this instance if the prospective buyer was to pay COD, the goods are still yours in transit Thumbs Up
