Still waiting for Twitter to actually let the Crowder team know why their posts were blocked - even though they went and visited the non-existent voter addresses in person...

I was thinking more lazy Sunday afternoon where you have a few ciders in the pub and start chatting bollox to stave-off having a snooze after a big lunch Smile

I get that votes can't be retracted after an election but there's no process to investigate made up addresses on the voter rolls and, even if there was, no process to delete bogus records?

Well HR1 passed [Congress], which means that no voter ID is required and no signature required on absentee ballots...

Go democracy! yay! Laughing

You don't know how the US system of government works do you?

It's been passed by Congress and has to get through the Senate. I believe it will require 60 votes in favour which is considerably more than the 50 +1 majority the democrats have.

Is it a good idea, in your opinion?

Even no signature on mail-in absentee ballots?

That's a good idea too?

You clearly can't read either.

It clearly states that it specifically doesn't affect the requirement for signatures on mail in ballots.

'except that nothing in this paragraph may be construed to prevent a State from requiring a signature of the individual or similar affirmation as a condition of obtaining an absentee ballot'

A State may not require notarization or witness signature as a condition of casting an absentee ballot.

Seems clear, no State can make signatures a requirement.

Thats getting a second person to witness the signature prior to sending in.

Although it does also say after that statement or other formal authentication.

Basically, no formal authentication can be required.

So it prevents any State adding authentication to mail-in ballots, which does seem a little crazy, when they are supposed to making elections more secure.

It specifically states that asking for a voter to confirm that they have the right to vote is acceptable.

No different to the UK.

So they are prevented from adding checks against corruption.

Which is generally a bad idea.

A Judge has delivered a devastating indictment of the postal voting system championed by ministers as he found six Labour councillors guilty of electoral fraud. He said checks against corruption were "hopelessly insecure" and accused the Government of being in denial about the risks to democracy.

Richard Mawrey QC, sitting as an electoral commissioner in Birmingham, found "overwhelming" evidence of fraud in last year's city council elections that would "disgrace a banana republic". The elections, where several Labour candidates bucked the trend to win, were dogged by claims of intimidation, bribery, "vote-buying', impersonation and even the creation of a "vote-forging factory".

The court ruled against three Labour councillors in Bordesley Green ward, Shafaq Ahmed, Shah Jahan and Ayaz Khan, and three in Aston ward, Mohammed Islam, Muhammed Afzal and Mohammed Kazi. The 10 June poll was declared void and will be rerun next month.

And as previously stated, it still has to get through the senate where the republicans get the opportunity to amend or throw out provision in it as trade off for agreeing to pass it.
