Productivity actually. Is there any money left to be made in mining?

no idea... I think there is still a bit of play with it, but I'm not sure. The values of these latest cards are silly now, and gamers and miners all want them. My old GTX 1060 is getting a bit clunky for recent games now and I'd like to upgrade but I'm not spending £300 to do that.

I just sold 2 x GTX1070 for £350 each. Mental money. I think that's more than i paid for them.

Had a complete GFX clearout and sold even GTX780 for £80.

Three of these are for workstation applications which needs stonks of video memory for very large models to be opened. Believe it or not but they are replacing GTX 1660 Supers. Secondary usage will be in rendering output.

The other one is for my personal gaming machine where it's replacing the existing RTX 2080 Ti.

You have 4 machines? Because nvlink does almost jack shit now Laughing even with 3090s, Hella wedge on some cards though. Wouldn't expect too much over a 2080ti though, it's a good card but it's not worth the asking for a small boost unless you went full new pcie 4 board and a matched CPU to really make use of its grunt.

No, workstations use AMD Threadrippers and my personal gaming machine has a Ryzen 7 2700X on a X470 motherboard but it is also getting upgraded to Ryzen 9 5950X and a X570 motherboard as soon as there is a 5950X in stock somewhere at non-scalped prices.

Do you need the 5950x (I have one here, its not much better than the 5800x its replacing) as its really not that great and almost useless at gaming, even less so than a 5600x, which is much cheaper Laughing

LTT is a different kettle of fish. They can afford to do that for the 0.1% extra gain. It's 10000% not worth the price for something you won't see Thumbs Up

*chuckles*

My case only has red fans in .... mainly b'cos the profile linked iCUE fans are mental money and the PC case sits under the desk out of the way.

BUT

iCUE linked devices;

Keyboard
Mouse
Mousemat X2 ( one sits under the AV amp on my desk)
Headphone stand
RGB iCUE strips on the back of each of the 4 monitors

The whole lot is synced through iCUE itself and at night if i've got music on, I use wallpaper engine to sync all the devices colour to audio response.

I can see the appeal, but I've always preferred more subtle single colour (usually green or blue) LED strips with the actual lighting hidden so it's diffused around the case.

No, not my thing either, and what's with windows in cases, PC components aren't interesting to look at.

It annoys me my new server case has a window, I may even consider spraying it.

The windows let you see how dusty it is inside so you know when to clean it.

Maybe the LEDs are to light up the insides so you can see where to clean.
