There are a string of other essential and historically important things start with it too like shoe, sheep.

Is this the thread where we post what we are thinking whilst we're having a clear-out?
Cos I spend most of my dunny-time thinking about Not Being Elvis.
I usually try not to hang about, so I don't have time to post whilst there.

I used to just light a match after, but now I've got a fancy oil burner thing in there, I think its got frankincense and myrrh-flavoured oil in there at the moment ... and I light a tea-light (plain or scented, whatever comes out of the packet first - cos all the air fresheners at the supermarket are lame.

Takes a while to smell more sociable. But there's normally nobody else but me here, so it doesnt matter if it takes a while to dissipate the stench.

As English is made up of many languages, with roots in Romance, Latin, Anglo-Saxon etc and as sh is a common digraph in many, many languages, it's probably not so suprising

Don't forget Old Norse! The majority of influences trace back or have a link to proto-germanic bearing in mind the last major linguistical addition being Norman French.

Apparently most words for crap involve "k" sounds. Kaka amongst others. And this in languages which are quite widely spread.
