The legs on that will probably be ~1mm. You might get away with cutting it off, cleaning up the area (the copper braid is good for this) and soldering by hand. It's a devil of a job with a fine-tipped soldering iron but possible. I seem to be over using this phrase lately: how far do you want to go down the rabbit hole? Very Happy

The diodes can be replaced with 1N4007 (higher reverse voltage than 1N4001), the resistor is 100 ohms 2 watt +/- 10% tolerance. The capacitors - just read off of the can. Thumbs Up

It looks like a rectifier circuit - probably to run the relay coil.

I've become conditioned to bcf.

I read 'The dildo can be replaced' Embarassed

Just a heads up to heroes attempting mains electrical work.

I got about 30 seconds in before going "RCD? Earthing?" Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately I've seen a fair bit of this first hand, having fitted EPOS systems all over the country in the past. Pubs are rarely a licence to print money and so electrical work tends to be shite layered on older shite Sad The rare exceptions being complete top-to-bottom refurbs.

That's fantastic guys, I couldn't make out what that chip was but it's a viper 12a but the 2a had burned clean off. So I have 750VAC at the "Drain" pins and nothing at all at the "source" pins.

There is continuity between the "source" pins, as near as a dead short as I can measure with my multimeter. I think that means it's fucked.

Hmm. I've removed the IC and while I THINK I could solder in a new one, there are other faults, no supply to the IC input for one thing. There's a little mini transformer in there which I think has also died.

I think there's just going to be a cascade of dead componants on here. The presence of 750V has probably fried multiple parts.

Thanks a lot for all the help, this has been a valuable learning experience for me and I'll be able to fix other things another time.

So its a 12a! I read it as VIPer lc

(didnt have me glarses on)

Not sure why you're getting 750 AC
can only guess its an open circuit voltage after the transformer
which would drop when in circuit and under load.

I have seen this, its say its a service manual but dont know if will give any useful info on the PCB as i'm not a scribd member
