Not really, to be honest! They usually work well in my Arai lids until the adjustment has come to an end. ____________________ Yamaha RXS 100 > Honda CD 250 > Honda Hornet 600 > Honda CBR 600RR > Yamaha RXS 100 > Kawasaki ZX6R J2 > Yamaha FZ1 |

It depends entirely on the geometry of your visor, the tension our pinlock is under when it's installed/retention and your arc of movement.
The best pinlock retention system is arguably on the Arai Vas V visors. They don't have a cam. The pinlock is recessed into the visor by a few mm ensuring there's no displacement of the insert, nor will it catch as you open or close the visor.
The poorest retention I've had is on my AGV Corsa R. Flat race visor with brilliant viewing angles might be great, but every time you open the visor, the upper lip of the pinlock ALWAYS catches against the opening brow of the helmet. Because of this, a brand new pinlock can get scratched up within say 1 week's worth of constant use. AGV clearly were meant to function without the pinlock. With the amount of aggressive ventilation on the helmet, you can probably get away with not using it once at speed with controlled breathing.
My Shoei X Spirit III again uses cams. The flat race visor clears the brow of the shell without any issues. The 3D curved visor does so as well. Never needed to adjust either.
I think people also forget that with visors and pinlocks, you're meant to replace them every so often; scratches, UV degradation and what not.
But in my experience, Arai, Shoei, HJC have been pretty decent with their pinlock offerings. ____________________ The Tot 2007 Yamaha R1 4C8 2002 Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer &

Only had two problems with Pinlocks:
1) The top seal always seems to be in my eyeline, which is irritating. Means I normally partially flip the visor to see properly, but then get wind blast.
2) Weird hazeing effect with any light source at night means you can barely see anything when in traffic. Have to fully open visor to fix this.
Was very annoying when I was a year round commuter, but ever so slightly better than without a Pinlock. ____________________ Previously: GP100U, GP100U, RD200, GT380, GSX400, CX500, VT500, VT500, GS500, R80/RT, ER5, CB500, ER5, CB500, ER5, CB500X
