Hello All,
Can anyone recommend a proper mid-size car mount\rack, for a 600cc motorcycle (around 180-200kg)?
I found something like this (within my budget):
https://www.amazon.co.uk/MOTOCROSS-80CC-600CC-REMOVAL-UK-DESCRIPTION/dp/B00S8D8LUM/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=CAR+%2B+VAN+TOW-BAR+RACK&qid=1616787906&sr=8-5
but I don't know if it's worth buying. It says that it's OK for motorcycles up to 600cc, but it looks a bit flimsy Rolling Eyes

No chance. Have you looked at the maximum nose weight the average car can take?

You won't find one that will carry a bike that heavy, cars simply aren't designed to carry that much weight strapped to them. The vertical load limit on the towball is usually less than 100kg. My Land Rover has an unusually high limit of 150kg, but that still won't be enough and that is about twice the limit of a normal car.

You ain't getting a sportbike on one of them (neither weight or width).

Trailer is the only sensible way you'll do it with a car.

Why do you need to ? If it's to pick up a bike you bought probably cheaper to rent a Luton van to pick up ?

I have a Motolug trailer.

They are not cheap but they do an excellent jobbie of humphing my K1300 and S1000RR and previously used to lug my R1200GS on it.

UK manufacturer.
Can be folded down and stowed in the car boot in about 10-15 Mins.
(Not cheap but really good quality.)

+1 for motolug. Single bike trailer folded up will go in the back of a 3 door golf (seats down).

TBH van would be great for traveling with a motorbike (and sleeping inside)

Motolug trailer looks awesome, but even the cheapest one is way out of my budget Sad

I have considered this option .
More expense, another vehicle to MOT, tax and insure.

Folding trailer is cheaper than repairing your 600 when it falls off the back of your car on some shitty bicycle rack style affair.

Yeah, but maybe it could be worth getting a van after selling a car (for someone who would like to do some travelling with a bike)

Ok, then hanging a motorbike off the back of a lightweight car like a Civic is a bad idea, plus the Mk8 Civic has a max vertical tow hitch load of 75kg. You have a max unbraked trailer limit of 500kg, so a small lightweight bike trailer would be your best option or a small-medium van.

I at least thought you had an SUV or something!! The maximum nose weight of a civic is 75kg. Which is low even for a trailer.

Or removing all the dents from the rear of the car and probably a smashed rear window where you clumsy trying roll a almost 200kg bike along the rear bumper.

Buy a van

The tail mount carriers are shit. Fine for mega light trials bikes (thats what they were designed for).

Or a trailers if you must.

Transit custom was the best money I ever spent on a non bike.

'cept maybe my 400bhp Celica gt4

I presume the reason for wanting to carry the bike rather than ride it is for trackdays.

Motorsport is expensive. A trailer is just the first expense on that slippery slope.

I bought mine from a chap through eBay.

They sometimes come up for sale.

I got mine powder coated about three/four years ago
And fitted LED lights.

Keep an eye out for them on eBay.
