Hi,

I'm looking to replace the damaged speedo/tachometer on my 2014 YBR125 EFI but it seems quite difficult to find any replacements that are compatible with the fuel injected model without paying around £100 for genuine yamaha parts. I don't mind knock offs as long as they're reliable/waterproof etc. but a lot of them say they're incomatible with the EFI. Is it worth trying one of these 'universal' sets or should I stop being so cheap and go for the legit stuff? Any will do as long as they work properly with my bike and don't rattle to pieces.

Thank you very much Smile Thumbs Up

Speedometers come in two drive types; mechanically driven via cable from the front wheel speedo drive, and electronic speedometers that use pulsed signal from a speed sensor. Many, if not most EFI bikes use electronic speedometers. That said, from what I can determine, all YBRs used cable driven speedometers, regardless of model year. If cost is an issue, seems to me worth a chance on the aftermarket YBR speedometer. See if you can find a vendor with a generous return policy.

I used an older cluster from AliExpress (petrol gauge on top instead of bottom, or vice versa), on my 2011 EFI YBR when it was nicked. Worked just fine except it was in kilometres not miles. I just boshed stickers at 30, 50 and 70 and gave the original clock to the new owner when i flogged it. As said, they're all cable driven speedo's.

Nice one, much appreciated for the swift replies folks. I'll bang an order in for a set of aftermarket ones then and try my luck, I don't have my CBT until April 24th so I've plenty of time to send them back and swap them over if they don't work.

Thanks again guys, I'll let you know if they're any good once they arrive
