I'm looking for a Kawasaki GPX750R that belonged to my dad. It was registered in 1989 and he unfortunately had to sell it on in I think 1998. Now unfortunately my dad passed away in 2002 and until today I only had a picture of me as a kid sitting on it in the front garden but during a house clearance today I managed to find the original documents from the DVLA for registration and insurance etc. So I done a check and it seems like it has not been scrapped but it also hasn't been taxed or MOT since 2011. I'm hoping by some miracle someone still has it but it's just sitting in a barn or something collecting dust.

I was hoping that maybe someone might be able to help me locate it I would love to ride it / do it up / restore it. I never got anything to remember my dad by and I would love to be able to see the bike again let alone own it.

If anyone can help at all I'd very much appreciate it. I'd also really appreciate if you could share this post for me.

Here's the details I have:

Red Kawasaki GPX750R Licence plate: G211 PWV Year of Manufacture: 1989 Colour: Red

According to the online paid for checks the licence plate has not been changed, the colour has not been changed, the last exchange of owners was in 2011 also a log book was requested at same time. Last known owner was my dads friend Russell who has unfortunately sold the bike on and has no other information to offer. Last known location was High Wycombe (Buckinghamshire UK) area.

Thanks all and if you hear / know of this bike please let me know and stay safe out there!

Tomorrow (31/03/2021) I've been invited to share this story on a radio in Buckinghamshire

This is a huge long shot but I'd kick myself if I didn't try.

Wow! That's a very cool bike.

Wouldn't it be amazing if that showed up somewhere, eh... Definitely a worthwhile project.

From your description, it would appear that a new V5C was not only requested but issued in 2011.

It's such a shame that as law-abiding and responsible members of society our hands are tied, and we must not fraudulently obtain details of the current owner via form V888:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/v888-request-by-an-individual-for-information-about-a-vehicle

If you don't find it, maybe just grab another one from Ebay, get a proper paint job and restoration done, etc. Good luck.

Thank you mate! Absolutely would be amazing. Yup so hopefully the person who has it still has it and just hasn't ridden it. According to the report i paid for the plate ALSO hasn't been changed so fingers crossed it's sitting in someones shed or barn.

I've thought about fibbing to the DVLA but the fine just isn't worth it if i was to get found out. As much as i would love to do it.

Thanks mate hopefully it turns up Smile

Practical Sportsbikes had started a 'bikes reunited' page in their mag but it's not in the current issue. I wonder if this is something to do with lockdown? I also think that the page wasn't very successful in actually reuniting owners with bikes. It's a very difficult thing, especially when most bikes of that age will probably be coke cans or something by now.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Yeah some others have mentioned that too. I've emailed the editor so just just waiting to hear back. I've got a post on Facebook making the rounds and also posted to Reddit. I'm just trying to post in as many places as possible in the hopes it's just sitting there not being used. Can only hope

The DVLA are missing a trick here. If there was some sort of "blind" messaging service where you could, for an exorbitant fee, have the DVLA pass on a letter - properly vetted before forwarding - then it would be up to the current owner to contact you or not and nobody's privacy would be impinged.

How about getting yourself pulled over by traffic cops and go "...while you're checking my details could you look up this number plate pls?" Laughing Laughing Laughing

Try the various Kawasaki forums - some of them are UK based and might have sections on specific models like the GPX - chances are whoever owns this bike has frequented one of them and mentioned the bike - it might jog someones memory and you might be able to source an email address etc.

All joking aside, there are plenty of police out there who will do this sort of thing on the side for a little... palm grease.

Are you sure you don't know somebody who knows somebody who can look up the address?

Thanks guys appreciate all the comments. Unfortunately I don't know any bent coppers who would do this for me haha I'm tempted to apparoach mechanics to see if they can look up where it was last MOTd or something as that would help massively narrow down the search.

I've posted in kawi forums and all over social media (it's taken off quite a bit actually) just gotta keep looking and remain hopeful.

Thanks guys
