I always carry a print out of my car and my bike insurance in my wallet. They are folded up neatly and on the blank outside I write something like BIKE INSURANCE TILL xxx 21 OR CAR INSURANCE TILL xxx 21.

I bought a new bike in September. I thought I had thrown the old bike insurance certificate away and replaced it with the current one. My memory was vague, thought I had just switched bikes and was on the same policy.

Yesterday I happened to look in my wallet and the handwritten text said, BIKE INSURANCE TILL MAR 5TH 2021. I had a moment of panic. My post has been a bit hit and miss lately, had they failed to send me a reminder?? I checked the date on the certificate and it was definitely 5th March 2021. I went straight on line and bought a year's worth of insurance from the same company I had been with.

Of course, being old and doddery, I was looking at my old bike's certificate, never even glanced at the registration, must have thrown the new one away and kept the old one. I had to ring them up this morning as I was insured twice, for the same bike and with the same company!

When you purchase road tax, mot, insurance and that sort of cyclical pish send yourself an email. That way if you have a dighter moment you can search your email for insurance, tax or etc and your most recent should be easier to find.

I need to start going back into pubs/bars.
Even if on my own (which I am rubbish at), I need to insert myself back into life: noisy, laughing, brassy.
I am not ready to be *this* old.

It has its advantages , but I need to be able to be selective while I still can.

it is a good idea, back when I had loads of bikes, I knew they were insured, but had I been invloved in an accident or something, I would have struggled to have recalled which bike was insured by who, or just where the details were exactly without a few hours of faffing about

I carry them because I would never remember in a million years who insured me, I change every year on both vehicles. Also, if for some reason I was stopped by the boys in blue and I wasn't on the database, then at least I have a certificate. I know they might still take the vehicle away but at least I can show later on I showed proof at the road side when trying to get a recovery fee refunded.
