Russian stronk is now rolling West. The Southern District Military Command has moved to the Ukraine border. That's 2 mobile brigades with artillery support.
They have also deployed the 56th Airborne Brigade with a supporting Armour Corps into the Crimea Region.
NATO and the US have issued a status revision late last night :
'U.S. European Command raises its watch level from "possible crisis" to "potential imminent crisis" (highest level).

Before anyone does the usual "oh! but the sauce!!!" here's a New York Times article that should be sufficiently Woke:

tl;dr the usual government forces vs Russia-backed separatists in the east of the country. I doubt Putin would be satisfied till he holds everything up to the Dnieper.

You see, what we really need here is an EU army to stick their oar in.

I wonder if Putin's strategy revolves around isolating Europe from energy sources. Bearing in mind Iraq, Libya and to a certain extent Afghanistan (being as it is a gateway to the resources of the other 'stans) were all about oil.

I could get by with Crimea being a PR stunt but annexing the rest of the country just to get a land route to his seaside villa seems a bit extreme Thinking

I don't follow this stuff closely but from what I gather Nordstream 2 represents Putin's desire to improve the transfer of energy resources from Russia to Germany/Europe - not to cut it off. Objections to Nordstream 2 come primarily from the US which wants to contain Russia and force political change via economic sanctions and other forms of pressure.

As a warm water port for the Black Sea Fleet, Crimea is of genuine strategic importance to the Russians (it provides access to the Mediterranean and beyond), with the political changes in Ukraine, Russia feard that the port (which they consider is in their 'backyard') could fall into the hands of NATO.

The beef between Russia and the US seems to primarily revolve around the tension between the Russian's multipolar view of geo-politics and the US hegemonic view.

It does beg the question as to why the shit gab link though.

It's not huge news to the world anyhow. There's been tension there for ages, dating back to at least the Ukrainian revolution in 2014.

Recent developments are not exactly 'Ukraine declaring war', it's just more dick waving until the inevitable happens and Russia invade.

Believe it or not Gab can be a good source of information the MSM don't want to talk about Wink You could also say the same about Daily Mail Online Shocked I do find it amusing when American commentators cite Mail articles when their own press try to supress things.

There are plenty of better places than Gab, it's literally a shit Facebook.

If you want actual reporting with verifiable facts, you should default to Reuters.

Fair enough but we're in the information overload age. Unless you trawl the more reputable sites daily for information - and who has time for that? - what most "normal" ppl do is wait till something kicks off on Twitter/Gab/Facebook/etc. and then get the real story elsewhere.

Pretty sure that Ukraine defending ukrainian territory doesn't count as 'terrorist'.

Also pretty sure that Ukraine isn't part of nato so no real.involvement from the eu or the US. It was about Russia gaining a warm water port which they now have.

There will be stern words but nothing more unless Russia starts making moves outside of Ukraine.

IIRC Putin's little tickle was no official involvement of Russian forces in the Ukraine. Anybody with a Russian accent caught holding an AK47 was just there on holiday!

Surely the answer, if the US & EU were really that bothered, would be to send in some more private mercenaries to prop up the nationalists Thinking

Reuters can be summed up by the fact that in all of those articles, just like all the other fake news sources, they consistently refuse to mention that the Ukrainian Rada has just ripped up the Minsk peace agreement and officially upgraded the conflict status from "Civil War" to "International Armed Conflict" naming the Russian Federation as the other party.
Yes indeed, a de facto declaration of war.

You see my issue here?

You are making claims with no verification.

I don't play that game, sorry.

You can choose to believe whatever you want, that's fine and totally up to you.
I prefer to look into things a little deeper than just accepting what is said on a shitty website and Gab is a shit Facebook. You are doing nothing to convince me otherwise. It is just full of people banned from shitposting misinformation on Social Media, and people wanting to believe.

Not for me.

The Ukrainian government hasn't ripped the agreement up they've just taken issue with the venue for future talks.

"Ukraine’s decision to rule out further talks in Minsk highlights the geopolitical shifts that have taken place in Belarus over the past eight months.

The rejection of the Belarusian capital should not necessarily mean an end to Ukraine-Russia peace negotiations, which can continue in an alternative venue. The basic framework for the peace talks in Minsk need not be abandoned, but whether it holds is unknowable. Ukraine’s objections to Minsk as a host venue do, however, signal a change in the regional balance of power that should alarm policymakers in Kyiv as well as those in nearby NATO member states."

And yet here you are with this golden egg.

There is a reason they dont report it, it's called verification.
A news agency like Reuters wont report on something spouted on Gab.
You know why?
It's a shit Facebook.

You may well be correct, but I will wait until a reputable new source reports it. I wont be trusting you, for obvious reasons, not least of all because you show signs of delusion.

I don't know what the big deal is? It's all being reported in the MSM (which implies it's a story they don't really care about) but granted it isn't front page news.
