Just wanted to introduce myself, after 10 years of not having a bike, I am back in the game again. New wife is very understanding and dare say it is her way of me getting out from under her feet.

I have got into it over the last few months and have got a little carried away. MY garage now has:

Harley Street Bob 114, its 2020 and done everything i could to get the bike how I wanted it and love it to bits, never thought I would like Harley.

BMW GS Hexhead from 2004, one owner bike in near perfect condition. I Have a few plans for some trips and it comes with all the gear.

Yamaha MT01 2007, had to jump on this one, the look, the exhausts are insane and sounds amazing. 2 owner bike, only 6,800 miles and last owner did less than 500 in 5 years.

Enough now, or so I am told, but looking forward to getting to know some of you and future meets, none of my friends are into bikes meet and ride out would be great to join in with.

Rich

Welcome to the asylum, Breham. I think you'll fit right in. Nice selection of bikes you have.

Fair enough... somewhat disenfranchised after my experiences, can't imagine why anyone would marry more than once..

Indeed so, fettling has it's merits but you do need to ride also - where are you?

Are we still talking about bikes or women?

I have the same problem. I got into biking in my early 30s and never really grew up around other like-minded biking nuts. One or two of my friends are ex-bikers in their mid 40s and thinking about getting another bike at some stage but all seem rather wishey washey about the whole thing. I've tried to encourage them and even offered one mate my FZ1 I'm selling at a heavily discounted rate but he was all like "meh". I think work and family commitments get in the way for most people as they get older through their 30s and 40s... then 50 hits and you go out and buy a Goldwing!

Ryka's Cafe is about half way between the two of us. I'm looking to get out there a bit more this year hopefully post-lockdown and visit a few biking spots around the South East so yeah, if that's not too far could hook up there for a coffee and a chat, maybe a few others here would join? I get the feeling the BCF community isn't as thriving as it once was but I think most of the regular more dedicated contributors have been on here for donkeys years. The cream of the crop still remain!

Welcome to the forum.

I like riding between the villages in between Oxford and Reading. Those are the type of roads that offer a level of challenge that never gets old while not really breaking any speed limits, i.e. picturesque, narrow single-track national speed limit country roads with "features" in them, where you have to anticipate what could be around the next corner. It gets especially interesting in autumn. You don't have to go to Surrey, but you can if you like.

Group riding isn't my thing as there's always an element of competitiveness which heightens the risks people take and the attention and concentration levels necessary, and reduces the fun. The good news is, there are lots of groups and organisations in the local area, and lots of meets in the summer (in typical years). Absolutely no shortage of like minds at all.
