Like so many things, we just didn't put any time or money into R&D, we just plugged away with the same old crap we were churning out in the early 60s, some of which wasn't that great when it was new - the Sebring in the video looks like fun, but the standard car it was based on was pretty awful, although it did have the advantage of being cheap.

To be fair, beyond the early 70s, there wasn't much of a market here for those sorts of cars, whereas the Kei cars are a market imperative, so the manufacturers kept investing in them.

They're rare.

Go and LOL at the price of a manual 90s NSX if you really want a giggle.

If you like a bit of retro, mixed with a bit of modern, check out this "creation" on eBay

I quite like that. It's got all of the shit morris bits removed.

"The car is being sold without vin number or V5c."

That might be a challenge for SVA though.

Its great isn't it, it was actually my Dad that showed it me, as he has a Morris Minor (with all the shit bits still attached)

I'm guessing the SVA issue is why it didn't sell last time out, shame really, as it looks great, and should drive pretty well too

I'll stick with me Austin Ambassador Y reg thank you very much

I must admit I rather admire that Mazda Minor, looks well done.
Dont know much about SVA is it expensive and difficult to get approval?
I'd guess you'd get a Q plate at least.

Can be and yes, to both questions.

It's a bit of a minefield, but there's plenty of reading easily available.

The test itself can be up to £450, then £90 for retest, if you got it wrong, plus whatever it costs to rectify the errors.

I assume the problem with that car is that there wasn't any paperwork for either donor, so maybe the Minor was a barn find and the MX- 5 was a Cat B total loss and the V5 has been rescinded.

If the paperwork for the Morris had existed, you probably could've got away with just changing the engine capacity on the V5 - shame really, that looks like a really well screwed together car, but you would be buying a very unknown quantity.
