I've decided not to do any more track time on my bikes as I am too paranoid and too much of a whoos these days

So I got this little nipper (Clio 172) for a road legal track car and maybe a race at some point, after a bit of modification.

It's got a pink gear knob, hoses and Rollcage. Cool Laughing Obviously had one careful lady owner. Laughing

I'll have it out when Knockhill opens up again for track days

It's had a complete shell respray, stripped, with TRS seat and OMP wheel. Engine rebuild, exhaust, roll cage and suspension modifications. bla bla. Should be fun around the track.

Sorry this is not a bike guys. I have to many bikes already.

Had a nice run round the borders yesterday, Haaddington Coldstream, Berwick for a MacDonalds for a fat burger and back home via Duns. Really starting to enjoy screwing the guts out of the Ninja, it is great fun and very flickable. Could really use another 20hp though.

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/yy224/struan80/174496835_3913884842027325_8061249555474641397_n.jpg?width=1920&height=1080&fit=bounds

I've spotted a CBR250RR for sale at a reasonable price considering they are like gold dust. Very very close to home. I'm going to chase it. Go nice with the 400RR, 900RR and the 600f all 1993 and of the same livery. Probably overpaid for them all but fuckit one can never have too many bikes. Very Happy
This is it Revs to 19000 Shocked

Spent the last two days out on the MC22. Absolutely a blast. 20,000 rpm red line. Looks and sounds great, goes like stink for a 250 Shocked .no emission laws back in 1992. Very Happy Not as ASBO as the crazy 400 though, that is something else when in the power banc Evil or Very Mad Better fun than the 900 to be honest. After 7 years I've now realised that light is best. Enlightened

Great thread here.
I, too, have developed an appreciation for lighter weight motorcycles. But like everything else, they have their strengths and shortcomings. An afternoon on the road in a stiff crosswind will make you appreciate the stability of a heavier motorcycle. I've yet to find a lightweight moto that's not susceptible to getting blown about a bit. The ideal is a compromise; lighter is better most of the time, but not all of the time.

What will happen to our fossil-fuel powered bikes when newly manufactured ones are phased out to make way for excruciatingly annoying ebikes?

At some point in the not too distant future, it will become illegal to drive/ride an internally combusted machine on the roads. It will become antisocial to ride an internally combusted fossil fuel bike. I am genuinly concerned about this.

Like smoking cigarettes and dogging our vehicles will become antisocial. We will be dictated to by 'correct' people.

I may join the Anti-Green party.

Anyway back to reality. My Clio is playing up. Under acceleration and braking it's all over the place. Got a trackday booked on the 12th so the cars going in to get sorted, hopefully. Nothing obvious, all bushes, joints and bearings seem fine. Alignment is fine. It's doing my head in.

Will it? New sales are being banned in 2030 but I haven't heard any dates for banning older cars still driving around. I think we will always have ICE cars on the road. I'd be more worried that the price and availability of fuel will change so drastically you have no choice but to go electric.

Stop being so darned sensible. Laughing I think you are correct though. It will be a shame when this happens. A great era will be over. Luckily I'll likely be dead.

I assume you're talking about handling? Be interested to hear what it turns out to be...

Sad it is, the passage of time. I entered the trade back before electronic engine management. Diesel mechanical fuel injection was my specialty in a day when good mechanics utilized the touch and sensitivity of a safe cracker to squeeze maximum power out of an engine. Those days are long gone, and I am a master of outdated technology. Confused Too bad. Forced me to learn new stuff or get left behind.

Internal combustion will be around for awhile longer; backup power generation in hospitals, airports, and financial centers will still rely on diesel power. Marine propulsion as well. I agree with Ayrton; it will be the lack of available fuel that spells the doom of internal combustion powered motorbikes.

That may not be a problem if Porsche are able to get their synthetic fuel working well.

Even if they didn't, it worries me that you would have a car named Clio. Even scooter ownership would be better. Not much, admittedly, but...

Even more incongruous that you would have a car named Clio for a track car. Victory in a race would kind of lose something Laughing
Still, even worse for anyone you beat I suppose.

There is no reason not to have gay car racing.

My Ph1 Cio is upset with some of the comments, she tries her best. And will be getting held up on the twisties by Nissin GTR's and the like out on the track. Hero's in a straight line do my head in. Laughing

First comment my mate said when seeing it is 'That's surely for a boy racer'.

Va! Va Voom to you nae sayers.

Yes it's the handling on rails except when hard accelarating and on the brakes. Goes into the garage next Thursday. Hope they can sort it. It rides like the Castor angle is too small.

Lined them up. Took a bit of effort I tell ya. They are stored in three different places and I hate pushing bikes about on the stone chips. The 250's my favorite. No more bloody bikes for me. Mind you all the bikes together are worth less than a wee family car. Since no wife to keep tabs on me I can do without the family car. Laughing

I'll leave the GSXR's to someone else. I've got to many as it is.

Yep it's a pity about the 600, but it's not an RR. 600 was much cheapness.
