Got the replacement points for the fuel pump in yesterday, so put that on today. One wire to solder, and a couple of screws. Someones been in before, as the existing points were filed or sanded, and the screw holding the cap on is missing.

I've emailed the man at Warr's Parts Dept about a back light cover
Someone has suggested temporarily painting the bulb with red nail varnish ... ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

I had a chap come round and instal me a new back-light lens cover in about ten seconds flat.
Coulda done it myself but he bought the part at Warrs without telling me, as a nice surprise.
Ahhhh, exes. Aint't they sweet?
It was only 11 squids. I had to call the man at the parts dept to make sure he'd ordered the right part. But it was super cheap as it wasnt an official HD part. Phew. ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

I often wonder the anality (?) mindset of some mot testers. I haven't had an mot for at least 6 years (i go 3/4 times a year), where the tester has even looked at anything but the clocks. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

You did the job using the hand held tool, decent effort
I use this . Much less hassle, but quite expensive for what it is. |

The man from the garage phoned to talk to me about the GSX750 and informed me that before anything else, it would need new tyres, so I approved purchase of two new something or other Bridgestones.
After that ... well, let's see.

Took the old beast into work, with my Penelope Pitstop scarf on.
Its very girly: pink and pastel blue, and if I knot it exactly a certain way, it flies out behind me when I ride.
Which I intrepidly do - coming along the Highway, trying not to hold up guys on sportsbikes ( ) , weaving and dodging I love the buzz of traffic.
Also, I noticed the bottom of a very nice Triumph owner in front of me at some point in both directions. You can't really help but notice bottoms when you're going along the Embankment at 20 mph in formation
Went down the Mall, as ya do. Both ways. Has to be done.
Central London, its not such a bad manor ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Today I have been mostly experimenting with exhaust systems on the XSR.
First attempt (previously mentioned) was effectively a straight through affair and obnoxiously loud - all mouth and no character So I managed to turn up a can that suited the bike with a proper removeable baffle.
No baffle: still way too loud but at least an interesting note.
So-called "DB Killer with Cat" that drops in between the pipe and the can: zero effect, waste of time.
Supplied baffle, bare: noticeable difference in volume and tone, bearable.
Baffle + light fibreglass: sounded great! Unfortunately I didn't do a good job of packing it and it all disintegrated within moments.
Baffle + dense fibreglass: almost back to OEM noise levels but sounds a bit nicer.
So the upside is the weight saving - something like 15kg "lost" - and catching the studs before the corrosion did for them. (Another season and I doubt they'd come out cleanly.)
May have another go with the lighter fibreglass in the week but at least all the hard work is done ____________________ Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Yamaha XSR700, Honda Rebel, Yamaha DT175, Suzuki SV650 (loan) Fazer 600, Keeway Superlight 125, 50cc turd scooter |

Changed the oil on the CBR and gave it a wash. I also mucked around with the wax idle unit as it was idling at 4000RPM when cold, which is enough to give anyone a headache...
Turns out it was set so wrong that it was keeping the cold start valve open even when warm, causing crappy response at low revs, which is now fixed! Feels loads better |
