Hi there.
I wonder if a topbox (behind the passenger seat) of my 2005 cbf 500 will be a space-problem to my passenger. Seat & "hand-grips" ?

It's not an issue.

Fitted a Givi rack and 52ltr box on my wife's old 2006 CBF500. No problem for the pillion to sit comfortably and use grab handles. The top box plate sits far enough back you don't compromise any pillion space. Photo of setup here. My young lad was perfectly happy (as happy as a moody teenager can be) for the trip touring around Wales last year pillion on the bike.

That said, he did find the Givi back rest on the box jutted too far forward to be comfortable, so I'd just stick to the box alone.

If the top box is the correct size for the bike and fitted using the correct rack/fitting kit (or home-made with fit in mind) then there should be no encroachment of pillion space.
The top box should not be mounted 'over the pillion seat'. Thumbs Up
