Attempting to do the valve clearances and trying to remove the cap that would allow me to turn the crank. Its stuck. Allen head (10mm) required tp remove but this is begining to dig in and will round off if I go any further.

Tried penetrating fluid, gave it a whack in to seat it/disrupt thread, tried a quick turn of wratchet, tried increasing leverage, applied a bit of heat. Still stuck.

Next step is cut a slot into it and sacrifice it then get another one if nothing else canbe worked. Any suggestions?

Put the bike in gear and turn the wheel to turn the crank.

Order a new plug.

Get a hammer and a punch.

Angle the punch and make a groove close to the end of the circular plug.

Now use the punch and a hammer to tap the plug anti-clockwise until you can spin it with your fingers.

Done a lot of these for other people. I try and only use the long arm of an allen key when I do mine up, there's no need to go mad when tightening them.

Hadn't considered the hammer and chisel option for some reason, will give it a go.

Bike is second hand so not me who tightened it this time.

Thanks, had considered this but would rather resolve the problem cap.

Turn the back wheel for now whilst you wait for the new cover.

Get a new cover plug, and an aerosol can off "freeze your nuts off" or the spray for freezing water pipes in the plumbing game....

With a warm engine, spray the freezer onto the plug and apply steady torque.

The o ring on the plug tends to have a good hold on these plugs, so steady torque...

If that fails, then think about butchery...

Post a picture of the little blighter and what bike is it, else set engine via rear wheel method...

Enjoy...

Depending on the bike, that plug could be made of plastic. Confused

Bike is a suzuki sv.

Aluminium cap plug, was very stuck so required cutting a slot then chisel to turn, had tried an impact but this just chewed in as well. Fairly sure the valves have not been checked for a long time. Only 1 just out of spec but most on the edge of being tight so will do all.

Thanks for all the advice though.
