Hey guys Dance!
I'm new to this community and I've been very interested in motorcycles lately. I'm a German living in England at the moment and I don't know a lot about your driving license system. I have a normal driver's license for cars by the way.
My questions are:
- Do you think it's easy for me to apply for a provisional driving license?
- How much does it cost?
- Does it stay valid when I go back to Germany?
I hope you can help me Laughing

I suspect that you'll have to convert your German license to a British one.

If you are a UK resident and live in Great Britain for 185 days in each calendar year then you have to exchange your licence for a UK one after 3 years.

You can probably exchange it before then and it will include provisional for motorcycle but that may be a problem when you go back to Germany(Brexit).

If you're in your first year of so here then I can't see why you cannot just apply for a UK provisional licence.

The ex mrs tdm ist bayerisch
She changed her german car license for a gb one, even though at the time it wasnt nessecary with one form, a standard fee etc, wasnt that difficult.
All depends on your definition of "live".
You will need to do this first regardless of what you do about the bike entitlement if you live here permanently.

If you move back to germany, nothing stops you ringing up flensburg and explaining you are now back again. They will probably want proof of your reregistration with the rathaus before issuing you a german licence again, which should carry over any substantive entitlements you have gained since (cbt wont count)
