Anyone got one, had one? What are your thoughts on it?

Is it worth paying the extra for the GT version (I am wondering if they will drop prices of the old model as the new model is out now)

cheers

I rode one and really liked it, I have considered swapping my MT09 for one simply for the improved comfort

When I was looking for a new bike, I road tested a Tracer and did not like it so it was suggested I tested the MT-09 and loved it so much I am on my second one.

out of interest what did you prefer of the MT09 over the tracer as I am thinking of going the other way, owner of a 2017 MT09

Riding the tracer I had to have the seat at its lowest setting and I did not feel comfortable or totally in control and when I rode the 09 I felt in control within a hundred yards, plus I had a 30 mile test ride and upon returning to my dealer I placed an order for an 09 and 6 years on am still happy with my choice.

Interesting. Is that because you couldn't flat foot the tracer? Or was the geometry weird - e.g. the steering wasn't as accurate / sharp / forgiving, etc.?

I owned the original MT09 Tracer brand new in 2015, I also owned the Tracer 900 GT brand new in 2018

The GT was a big improvement over the original. The 2021 seems to have gone even further and improved it

I wouldn't buy another of either bike though

The engineer is addictive, makes a great sound

The fuel gauge is ridiculous by that I mean one minute you will have half a tank then it drops suddenly and rapidly

Suspension was not great at all on either bike, maybe the 2021 will be better with the electronic

Wasn't comfortable for the wife on the back. If your carrying pillion you will constantly knock their feet which gets annoying after a while

The screen is next to useless, doesn't make any difference if you have it up or down

You can't have hard cases and a top box. Although, they finally addressed this with the 2021 model

Other half has a Givi top box and Givi panniers on her 2016 tracer 900, maybe it's an issue with the yamaha luggage?

That was my impression of test riding a a 2015 too, suspension was poor, fuelling was really bad off part open throttle, screen caused tons of noise/buffeting, would be better without one. All that was kinda made up by a fun and engaging engine, I had no problem flat footing at 5'11.

My main gripe was the spotty fuelling + and pogo rebound, if that could be sorted for cheap it would be a perfect sports tourer.

Thanks all. By all accounts it’s all sorted but will need to ride in to really see what to do.

The MT09 is probably best for my day rides, but I would like to tour more and am often on motorways trying to get some where nice quickly, so the tracer makes more sense.

top box stuff

It's the all up weight limit and subframe strength thats the issue. You can certainly fit all three but whether or not you'll crack the subframe after a while if carrying s heavy load is another thing. The weight limit is two low for 2 plus luggage on the pre 21 which is one of the things that turned me away, and neither I nor my wife are heavy.

It'll do it I'm sure but I keep.my hikes for a while and can't be bothered with issues.
