Some fucking thieving wanker cunt has nicked the number plate off my bike whilst it was parked in Central London earlier.

Aside from the bollockache of getting a new one and repairing the damage (bent tail-tidy and smashed number plate light), it's the ensuing barrage of speeding/traffic light/police attention I am now going to get in the coming months ahead.

I'm fucking livid.

Is this a common thing, and how do I stop it happening again? It was only held on with plastic screws, maybe securing it with M10 bolts and mudguard washers either side?

Don't use the vehicle until you fit another plate.

Whether stolen or not its still an offense to use it without a plate.
Part of living within society.

Theres a chap on here can make and post a plate to you.

And numerous others on line.

Haha - thanks. To be honest, I didn't even realise until I got home, so that boat had already sailed.

And there's no way on God's earth that I am ever going to leave my bike in the street in London overnight!

If you haven't already, report it to the police so that you've got a reference number to give when plod coming knocking at your door about the bilking / speeding / drive by shooting / whatever else the thief gets up to. Laughing

I hope you have some understanding of how the law works though because now that you've posted this thread, you're required to keep us updated if and when anything further happens.

As above, if you haven't already report to the police exactly when and where it went missing. This could be very useful evidence further down the line if you find plod coming after you for anything related to that plate.

if you try securing the new plate better, chances are, if it happens again, the scum will just cause even more damage to your bike.

This is very true. Years ago, my grandparents had the plates stolen off their car - got reported to the police the same day. Following day, armed plod came knocking on their door as the plates had been put on a car and used to knock off a building society. They had a surprise when a couple of people in their late 70s answered. Fortunately they had the call number for the stolen plate, and the cops were fairly happy it wasn't them that held up the place and ran off. Laughing

Aye, that's what they tell you. No one would suspect pensioners of robbing a bank.

Didn't go on any lavish holidays afterwards did they? Laughing

The same gang are unlikely to take the same plate twice. Just replace and regard it as a one off.

Unless it's a really good private plate that is, like PEN15 or S4 TAN.
In that case good luck Thumbs Up
