Hey all,

96 CB750 rear shocks shot. Research has brought me to YSS £390 for preload/rebound/length, or £610 with compression and those lovely piggyback reservoirs Wub, there's nitron too but then it's 700-1k, and YSS has a set of fork springs for £80 which should work well together.

Wemoto/ebay/international is cheaper but will probably take a month to arrive and involve getting raped with import charges which will even things out, Brook's were very helpful so hey let's support them.

Anyway, is £220 compression damping worth on this kind of bike? It's my do it all from twisties to weekend trips. I carry a pillion on some of those trips, unsure if it matters much. It cost me £1500 so spending >1/3 on shocks feels silly but I do love the old thing and plan to keep it alongside my next upgrade.

Cheers!

I'd say that providing they are correctly sprung, the benefit you are likely to get from adjustable compression damping is minimal. It's not that they don't have compression damping, it's just you can't fiddle with it.

The spring weight is the most important part.

If you want to do trackdays? Yes.

I had a 'damping' adjuster on my Nitron on the VFR800Fi... It did need adjusting but it did work, and I got it to a decent state. So... It's up to you I guess?

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Do you NEED it? Probably not. Is it good to have, absolutely.

That's one of the things I hate about my current 750 is the lack of full adjustability (especially coming from Blades and Gixxers etc).
