Anyway! Its been a lovely day here, the lady next door sent over some chapattis (of which I have gone and eaten four of the five!), with something brown and spicy with beans that tasted *amazing* ... and I've done a lot of Notverymuchfuckall quite productively for the nation's sick children.

That'll do.

Similar: the neighbour on one side is a dead loss at all sorts (this is the one with a TV that you have to feed quids into) but she has a talent for "Great British Bake Off" shite. Brought round some lemon-drizzle cake this afternoon Drooling

Today I'm writing an interface to a dating app. There's a deal where if you fill in at least 70% of the profile you get a free coffee, I do the mechanics behind scanning the QR code, validating it, applying a promo to get the coffee and so on. That means I have to install a dating app and fill it in. WISE MOVE: inform wife straight away in case she gets any funny ideas Very Happy

Anyhoo, let's just say ste would have a field day. Drinking? "Frequently" Pets? "Dog" or "Cat" apparently you can't like both Sad Relationship Status? "It's Complicated" is an option Shocked Religion? "Jain" never heard of it! Sexual Orientation? "aromatic" say what now?!

The wife was in hysterics when I tried to take a selfie: "invalid: images of celebrities are not acceptable" Thinking

AI image analysis, we're not there yet!

Just had my kidney/bladder stent removed and apart from having a piddle that made me jump a foot in the air with stinginess a minute ago, it feels sooooo much better now.

Rode my bike home like a loon to do that as well so I could sit down like a girl.

I heard something in the kitchen. No, wasn't wifie, she was at work. Wasn't dog sitting dog, she was snoring at my feet.

Thinking

So I sneaked out to the kitchen and there was a Magpie nicking the dogs biscuits. It fucked off so I put a motion camera near by and the bugger came back 3 times. Laughing

Why not fit a flap over the tent opening?

Regressed 100 years last night and drank nice whisky sat in the warm light of an oil lamp. Surprisingly relaxing and the aroma of the paraffin (which I find quite pleasant) reminded me of my childhood (where my grandmother had the very same lamp on her kitchen table). Smile

I was actually more concerned about succumbing to carbon monoxide poisoning, but had a CO alarm in the room with a digital readout which didn't rise above 0 all evening, so either it doesn't work or the CO output from the lamp is minimal relative to the ventilation.

Bike Shed? Really?? I always imagined it's full of the kinda of tossers I hate - did you ever go before? Pretty sure my scornful remarks would get me evicted in short order.

The name of your mag reminds me of a transport cafe that I used to frequent in the 80'/90's. It was on the A5 just off the M6, if I recall correctly, heading towards Cannock.
There were no lights in the men's fly infested shithole round the back, I don't think it even had a door, everything was covered in a thick layer of grease that had probably been there since the 50's but the fry-ups were to die for. I want to say that it was called Hollies.. Question

^^^ I wonder if... Thinking May have been in that one too.

I liked the one on the A62 between Diggle and Huddersfield. Never saw outside the windows due to condensation and ciggie smoke.

The one on Hyde rd Manchester was particularly earthy.
Placed my dinner order and the lady serving asked if I wanted extra liver for ??pence.

'He's a vegetarian' my oppo piped-up.

'That's okay, he can leave the vegetables' she replied.

The cafe near Pendleton where I'd find bits of bacon in the beans....their recycling policy was ahead of the curve, but you could have as many tea refills as you wanted.

Yes, mostly fond memories.
