Surprised no one's mentioned Channel 4: public service remit but self funded. Plenty of ppl have a moan-up about CH4's lack of impartiality but there's not the same howling derision and calls to shut the whole thing down and take their licence away.

Abolish/scale back the licence fee and go from there. For example: break up the BBC into local and international companies. Leave the licence fee for the local stuff (some remote part of Wales might not have enough money to run a commercial service but there could be argued a "public good" is served to fund it anyway.) But the big stuff - sporting events, big dramas etc. - has to be self funded similar to way CH4 does it.

Apart from Ch 4 Nooz lacking lackies I have had some mileage out of the streaming channel. Lots of decent drama and some films I enjoyed over the last three months at home.

A MAJOR critism I have for BBC currently is the total LACK of effort to help deflect Lock-Down Blues by putting on some decent fcuking telly.
It's the same shite programming since always. Freaking Find it Flog It Tossers. And that Property pish. Who the Fcuk is watching that wank?

Absolutely, I thought the same. Lockdown Christmas TV was particularly dire. Let’s face it, they only had to find a couple of decent films on DVD which they hadn’t already played to death, queue them up and then take a nap. Come to think of it, that’s what I did.

Scrap the licence fee. Give the grannies a PC instead then they can watch youtube, there's plenty on there. Teach a bi-questioning-trans-man to fish and all that Wink

Surely if the Doctor regenerated as a black person then that would be cultural appropriation? Wait a mo though, the Doctor is an alien who just appears in human form so all these years has been engaging in cultural and speciesist appropriation! Shameful!

In episode 6 we ask the important questions of Ursine defecation locations and the Pope's position on Catholicism Rolling Eyes

Still, nice to have it quantified.

Nah, "the BBC is institutionally biased" it just puts clothes on the argument.
