Hi all

I'm currently in the process of a 1994 Suzuki GN 125 Cafe Racer build (My first bike - have ridden before but not for a while, just fancied a little project for the shed).
The bike only has a side stand, which I didn't see as an issue until now as I get closer to putting everything back together, I think it will be a real pain when I attempt to refit the engine especially.
Parts for the bike have been relatively easy to find, all except for the centre stand. I finally managed to get my hands on the stand and spring, but not the shaft to attach and hold it in place.

My question is - is anybody currently doing the same thing as me and actually has a centre stand and can provide me with measurements for the shaft? Or if they just so happen to have one laying around! I have a lathe so am tempted to make one myself.

Or failing that if anyone can point me in the right direction to acquiring one?

Any help is much appreciated!

Oh dear.

You really didn't bother to check what we think of cafe racer builds.

You do know that the whole point of doing a cafe racer is to make it lighter and not add extra weight?

I'm assuming disliked then haha?

I have attempted to lighten the bike but I dislike side stands. Plus its for a short commute to work, not racing between cafes. I just like the aesthetic.

Maybe I should have asked for help with the centre stand shaft without mentioning anything about the build?

If you have a lathe just make your own.
Stand spindles are not tight tolerance items
and best slathered in grease so they don't seize.

A typical one may have a shoulder or cap welded on one end and
drilled for a split pin behind a washer the other.
Pretty basic turning.

Excellent, I do have a couple of images to work from and can get measurements to compare from the frame but was worried about accuracy.

Reading your reply means I'm now happy to wing it!

Thanks WD Forte
