Hi
This thread got me thinking about fantasy cars.
What would you like to own (and have a reasonable chance of owning)?
For example, out of pure bad taste I have quite often fancied a Lamborghini Diablo. Probably not enjoy driving it if I did, but would like to try.
Quick check on Autotrader reveals the cheapest one currently for sale 2nd hand to be £40000 (lhd, never mind).
Do I have £40k floating round? Nope, but it if came to it then if I really wanted to I could probably rearrange the mortgage and add the extra over the next 10 years, costing me about £425 a month. Cars like that depreciation is fairly limited so long term costs are not that high, although servicing and insurance would probably add another £150 a month.
Basically not cheap but within reason, especially when you consider that a boring mid range 4 door saloon replaced every 3 years would cost you about £30k in depreciation over a decade, and with nothing to show for it.
All the best

I have always wanted a Dodge Viper, I think they're ace. I also like the Nissan Skylines, they are stunning cars. Not really too keen on Diablos, but I like the older Ferraris such as the F40 and the Testarossa ____________________ Honda MBX50 | Yamaha RD125LC | Suzuki RG125F Lucky Strike | Suzuki GSF600S

Okay, based upon cars that are relatively attainable...
TVR Tuscan (starting at £20k on Autotrader)
Porsche 911 (start at next to nothing for an old one but, again £20k would pick up a nice one)
Mitsubishi Evo (only about £25k new)
Caterham 7 (or that style of car, for track days ) |

Always have and always will be a huge lambo fan. Would I have a ferrari? Sure if it was free, or if allmost every other supercar was out of stock.
Would love to go for a Lambo Diablo, because as said they are animals.
definately would not go japanese. But If I was on a budget I would go with a porsche through and through. Obviously which would depend on my budget, but I would love one of these great german cars. ____________________ 05 ZX10R, (**05 WKR) |

Hi
Trouble with semi sensible cars for everyday use is that the depreciation will be hideous. Merc diesel or the Evo would halve their value in a few years.
Personally I would be tempted with the really silly toy for occasional use and then a cheap old car for everyday use. Spend £1k (and you can get a good car for that) and even 100% depreciation is less than the depreciation on a new car being driven out of the show room.
Tuscan, Viper . Might not be my choice but I would not say no.
Pity my really silly choice of a Bugatti EB110 could not be picked up for money I can conceive having, however much I saved.
All the best

For a dream car that i'd have a chance of owning it'd have to be the TVR cereba which you can get for under 20k
But my out and out dream car is a jag XJ220 ____________________ 04 ZX10R ~ |

What you mean like a mint Renault 5 GT Turbo?
But if I was allowed any properly fast car possibly a Carerra, they look timeless. ____________________ Northern Irish? www.nibikers.com |

For a 'realistic' fantasy, an Ultima GTR.
The less realistic one would be in the vein of that had twin turbo'd bike engines with the possibility of up to 1000hp .
A GT40 style car would definitely appeal, kit car or not. |
