Had a slight cheek clenching moment yesterday when I experienced a rear end slide on the '76 GT250 on a warm dry road...

the tyre is an as old as the hills ME22 and I think I must have edged onto the hardened 'chicken-strip' region..

So, would a fresh ME22 be a good replacement or should I shell out for something fancier..?

It would be Avon Roadriders for me, used them on my LC's, good tyres.

I'm quite happy with the roadriders on my Bullet and I have mates who use them on MUCH sportier bikes with good effect.

I had a Roadrider on my FZ but the sidewall cracked (perished) when it wasn't 'that' old 3 yrs maybe so I'm a bit influenced.

On the GT I think I was probably asking too much of a tyre thats (at least) 21 years old...
