NC500 charity run.

Probably the most scared I've been on the bike in a while was riding 4am to Inverness over the Dhirrre with 0 visibility, i know the road well but had no idea where i was but knew there were deer. Could not even see Aultguish lol, not the best start to a 14hr shift on the bike.

Visibility did not really improve much until Kinlochewe, Bealach was horrendous just driving through a cloud. Visor wet, glasses wet, steam up and had to make a campervan reverse, fair play to the guy was not easy. To then find the 24hr pumps were not working, lot of praying that would get to Kinlochewe.

Shout out to Russels at the club house in Ullapool for the lovely bacon rolls and the coffee that kept us going.

Heading north of Ullapool the roads were still surprisingly quiet, was dreading the Drumbeg road but was fine, seen the tractors. Guy stopped Daniel to give him a donation.

Stopping at Kylesku for a back stretch and some photos and then heading to Durness. Only really then did we have someone not willing to use a passing place.

Another shout out to the staff at the Spar who made a donation, thanks very much.

Offer the top the scenery changes end a mixture of great single track and some not so great.

Thurso fuel then pushing onto John o Groats, changed a bit since the last time i was there and mental busy with folk at the sign.
Made for progress heading down the A9 until a BMW with a roof box thought it was good to speed up as we went to overtake.... not interested in racing.

Another shout out to Willie Cowie at the Miekle Ferry Inn for staying open and providing some well needed lovely coffee. Great place and very convenient at the Dornoch bridge roundabout.

Feeling a jaded heading south and sticking to the official route meant heading through Dingwall and back through Beauly.

A massive shout out to Helen and Ernie for waiting at the MFR station for us for sometime to give us a very warm welcome at the finish line.
My wife had kindly let me do this on her birthday weekend as it was the only date others could do, headed to Hopeman feeling a bit broken.

All in all a epic day that i will remember, spent with a lovely group of people and on a very good bike the Yamaha T7.
610 miles and just under 14 hours.

Did a fairly touristy route around N.Wales. A5, A470, coffee at the Lakeside cafe in Tanygrisau, Fuelled up just after Trawsfynydd, A4212, B4391, Missed the Turn off at Penybontfawr for Llanrhaedar yn Mochnant due to a fuckwit trying to pull a "U" turn on a blind bend, and went down a nadgery in places, but otherwise quite pleasant road, the A490.

Quick blast out last night; through Cheshire then up the Cat & Fiddle, across to Buxton, through the Derbyshire Dales before heading over to the Winnats Pass before heading home (in the dark!). All was good, apart from when I stopped to take the pictures on the Cat & Fiddle, opened my visor (it was very hot even up there) and a swarm of midges flew in! I decided taking my helmet off would make things worse, so snapped the visor shut and accepted that after 15 minutes they should all be well fed and will stop biting. They seemed to. Laughing

Midge feeding point:

These 80/20 ones were already on it when I got it, im a bit too cheap to bin them when they have not got much wear on them Laughing I go pretty slow and have not got into any serious mud yet so they have done _okay_ so far. Thinking of putting Mitas E07's on next.

Might head up that way the weekend, if it still looks like it'll be dry. One last go.

From last Saturday (11th) to Thursday (16th) went up to Scotland for a small tour.

Main group consisted of lads and lass from Lincoln who had ridden up on the Wednesday, my mate rode back down from Skye to meet me on the Saturday at Fort William.

Other than M74 services, first stop outside Glasgow at West Ferry overlooking the Clyde

Then Loch Lomond at the Ferry terminal
https://i.imgur.com/lk8sI4l.jpg

Somewhere Near the start of Glencoe (no photos from there, grey weather and I needed to make camp before dark).

https://i.imgur.com/bUMHl8P.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/lJJ2O5H.jpg

Met up with Col at Glen Nevis Campsite

Stop near Shieldaig

Onto Kinlochewe

We kept passing then being passed by local bloke on this CB1100, at the fuel station had a bit crack with him and turned out Trev one of our group had met the bloke on the same bike at the same filling station 4 years ago, odd coincidence.

Next campsite was Badrallach south of Ullapool, somewhere on the A835

Further on near Rhitongue one of our group had an 'off'
https://i.imgur.com/vGl4tpP.jpg

Luckily this group on Skyteam Monkey knock off's were riding by, top guys and girls couldn't have got the bike out of the ditch without them.

https://i.imgur.com/VtxBcVO.jpg

They were riding from Orkney, seen dozens more earlier, looked an awesome trip!

Not really any damage, just a sprained wrist and two luggage mounts lost, rerouted the strapping and carried on.

Next camp was Thurso

https://i.imgur.com/dH2B4OO.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/W4blkEL.jpg

Felt like the Ritz after Badrallach

After a night in the pub next day was decided to stay a 2nd night at Thurso and explore so to the beach.

Then down to Brora, Cocoa Skye Cafe
https://i.imgur.com/0C0gH6h.jpg

Col split from the group here to go see family in Peterhead, I split further down to see Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle, got pulled in Drumnadrochit for a check over (first ever pull on a bike Laughing)

https://i.imgur.com/sJZtpCO.jpg

After much faffing around at Inverness and going to the wrong town for camp I rejoined the group at Auchnahillin campsite near Daviot
https://i.imgur.com/pRyrKJC.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/jNQ763k.jpg

Excellent campsite and only £9 a night, when I explore the east coast I'll be sure to pop back this way, set off early Thursday solo to return to Co. Durham.
