Sleeping You can already guess what's happened again this morning. Rolling Eyes

Eco protesters have dramatically escalated their M25 demonstration – this time blocking the motorway's high-speed carriageway instead of a slip road.

Insulate Britain activists returned to disrupt motorists, who have become enraged at campaigners who glued themselves to slip roads and caused serious tailbacks - though the lanes have since reopened.

Protesters defied police on Tuesday morning, having assembled on the hard shoulder before running in front of traffic, which had started to slow.

Police tried to haul them back off the carriageway as traffic dragged to a halt but the activists managed to sprawl out across the lanes and completely block both sides of the M25 near Woking.

Officers then removed the activists and their banners in front of huge tailbacks. The protesters were seen going limp as they were hauled away and 23 arrests were made, according to Surrey Police.

Traffic began moving slowly after the demonstration was cleared away on the anti-clockwise route.

Speaking to LBC's Nick Ferrari at Breakfast, as Insulate Britain members ran onto the road, another campaigner with the group said she did not want to justify the demonstration.

Nick told Zoe Cohen that "someone is going to die".

But Ms Cohen responded that "thousands of people will die this winter from fuel poverty".

"We hate doing it, will you please ask the Government to write a reasonable statement and get us off the road? We don't want to do this, Nick.

"If the Government met our demands to insulate and retrofit social housing and the rest of the homes in Britain by 2030 it would save thousands of lives.

"We have to cause disruption, Nick."

Boris Johnson said they were harming their cause, but the group's Liam Norton said on Tuesday morning: "The idea that people would suddenly decide insulating our leaky homes is a bad idea as a result of our campaign is frankly laughable. We are simply asking the government to get on with the job.

"The people of Britain understand that climate change is a severe threat to everything they hold dear. They are looking to the government for leadership.

"We have a practical solution and have received encouragement for our aims from many construction industry professionals."

Time to end this episode of Swampy Goes to Town with some police force. Truncheons and dogs, before the commuters do it for them.

OK, not directly related but I thought we were meant to be pretty well energy green? I heard shite from people how great our wind farms are and how much the solar makes yet here we are in a crisis with gas prices.

Now I know how much LNG we import into the UK because that was my last job at Shell, running a fleet of LNG ships that imported gas from Nigeria to Europe but still some twats lap up the 'we are so green' mantra.

I know most people still have gas boilers and many cookers but that's a small part of where gas goes. Gas fired power stations are still the backbone of electricity generation so both gas and electric prices will rise.

I wonder how many of the hooray henrys will be bleating about insulation when they cant charge their I phones because the electric has gone off?

Anyway, lets get them atoms flying and build some fcuk off great nuclear reactors or build a barrage across the Severn estuary to harness sea power.

In the mean time however, keep burning that gas cause my Shell shares are slowly creeping back up. Thumbs Up

This, as a matter of urgency. And they don't need to be huge piles like those of the 50s and 60s. And keep China the fuck out of it.
Meanwhile, we could burn Boris, his missus and all the protestors for a bit of warmth this winter. If nothing else, that would give me a warm feeling inside.

I'd be quite happy for the police to beat these people unconscious and throw 'em in a skip in lieu of a police van.

"The government must meet our demands... we don't want to do this..."

It's the same sorry line they use in action films when the kidnappers threaten to kill a hostage unless the ransom is paid. "And if they die it's on you!" Any reaction from the government other than "prosecute with extreme prejudice" puts forth a statement that you can easily short-cut democracy with extortion.

Their motives are irrelevant.

I’ve just watched the videos. There’s going to be a massive pile-up back down the road if this keeps happening. Seriously, set the dogs on them. Nobody argues with a police dog.

[note this is an article from last Sunday]

Protesters have asked for the motorway speed limit to be cut to accommodate their demonstrations ahead of further action on the M25 on Monday.

Members of Insulate Britain brought chaos to the motorway last week, blocking it on three separate occasions.

They have vowed to return to the M25 from 7am on Monday, amid fears that the campaign will last for weeks or even months.

The group said they had written to National Highways, formerly the Highways Agency, to request that the traffic is slowed down on the parts of the M25 where they were protesting.

Frustrated that a similar request was ignored last week, they wrote: “Insulate Britain are asking the Highways Agency to review their previous decision not to reduce speed limits, even though they had been made aware that major disruption will be taking place.

“Given that this is a standard safety procedure when hazards occur on the motorway, Insulate Britain is surprised it has not formed part of the response to the campaign.”

Seventeen people have been arrested as climate activists blocked the Port of Dover, causing queues of vehicles attempting to cross the Channel.

Insulate Britain, which has brought chaos on the M25 five times in the past fortnight, said more than 40 people gathered at Dover.

The port - Europe's busiest ferry terminal - said passengers should take extra time for their journeys.

The protest began about 08.20 BST and was cleared by police two hours later.

Kent Police said the protest had caused "traffic disruption in Dover", with queues forming on the A20 and the A2, approaching the port.

Rolling Eyes

No one could have predicted that the unwashed would celebrate the M25 injunction thing by going and blocking other roads.

They don't even speculate on the biggest aspect of pollution, world population, except to say we will need to feed 10 billion.

Kurzgesagt make some brilliant videos, I've been subscribed to them for years now.

The guest video with The Anthropocene Reviewed, The Forbidden Cave is probably my favourite. Just shows how insignificant we are in the context of time and how precious little time we actually have:

Also really enjoyed The Great Filter:

And before them the French paedophiles philosophers.

Anyhoo, here we go again:

Insulate Britain protesters glue hands to M25

To be clear the police response time needs to be "within minutes" to protect them from the motorists.

My god its Kropotkin's lot now! And to think if they really wanted to cause disruption all they needed to do was spend fifty years promoting neo liberal politics and de-invest in blue coller workers, just think of the potholes they could have made not to mention taking fuel tanker drivers out of the worlforce Laughing

They are missing a trick here. The best way to get free publicity must be to superglue themselves to Katie Price!

Is the M25 particularly handy or does it play a crucial role in [not] installing insulation. Rolling Eyes
What could they glue themselves too instead (Katie Price already suggested)
