I know this has been raised a few times, but I now literally cannot get to the last page of the "Where have you been on your bike today" thread in the General Bike Pictures section. I've tried going to the penultimate page then clicking next, or clicking the next page number etc. but I get the same result, a slow load followed by the error message. It's the same on my 'phone too.

Anyone got any ideas or is this a "backroom issue" (Ste - not that sort of issue).

Cheers Thumbs Up

If you choose not to Flounce then the Karmabot instigates some background activity to Force Flounce you.

It's the system M8.

The last page doesn't exist so go to the page before, it is probably somehow miscounting the number of posts.
Previous very long topics which were doing it have been *fixed* by starting a new thread to continue.

When it says that there's no post on the last page of the thread.

You can see that by going to any previous page of the thread, clicking reply, then you can see the latest posts in the "topic review" on the reply page and the latest post is the same one that's on the second to last page of the thread.

For some reason BCF can't count properly when threads get too big. Laughing

I pretty much gave up on that thread anyway cos people can't be arsed to resize their photos to something that loads a bit quicker, so once there are a few posts with photos on a page, you end up waiting ages anyway before you can scroll down through it.

With the unwieldy size of threads causing problems, it might help if a new thread was started each year or 6 months or after 20 pages or something. I don't suppose many people are bothered about going back far through threads anyway.

If that's what it is, it doesn't say much for the new router I've been sent with the promise of faster broadband, at no extra cost Rolling Eyes

I'd have to go and re-read the letter about it, can't remember where I've tucked it now, but I think they said fibre. Doesn't matter because I can't afford to upgrade myself, and it doesn't bother me that much. I wouldn't bother even if I was rolling in it - much better things to be into Smile

It only matters in that adsl is bothered by phone line quality, fibre less so.

If you've old wiring and the bell wire is still attached in the socket(s) disconnect it as it can add noise in the circuit and that affects sync rate / speed.

If you have wireless house handsets that only need one socket fir the base ... disconnect the old extension sockets from the wiring in the master socket.

Simple free things to do.

I can fix it for you to milk a one uddered cow whilst wearing a blindfold if you like.

It won't give much milk and it will taste funny.

The problem seems to be cropping up a lot again. This might help:

The broken topics have been repaired again, and I've added a fix for this to the overnight maintenance scripts. Any future topics suffering the same fate will get repaired automatically from now on.

Once the forum comes back up from the current big offline maintenance run, most threads should be quicker to load.

Maybe to nudge we should be emailing Mr Korn pretending to be someone who's wanting to advertise on BCF.

Sounds like a plan but....

The order would then be sent down for Stinkwheel to euthanize the offending pretenders account. Rolling Eyes

Not having this particular problem, but the forum keeps logging me out for no reason.

It's as if I'd clicked on one of Ste's links Neutral

Have you changed browsers or fiddled with the cookie settings recently?

Not that I know of. I suppose it could have happened in one of those regular helpful Windows updates.

I think I just need the 'Disable Ste' setting.
