Totally new to this, but worth a shot.. Bought a nackered 2004 CBF600. Been piecing it together slowly and found that just as I try to run, it wont spark.
Fully charged battery, checked all possible kill switches, checked resistance in coils, pulse generator...
Power is getting to the coils but the ground isn't being switched on with ignition. Guessing this is what allows spark.
My only thoughts about what it could be is stator, pulse generator or CDI. I changed the ignition barrel to Chinese but I didn't think it has hiss.
Any help massively appreciated

Get a wiring diagram and test all the things in the ignition circuit. I'm assuming this is an early EFI bike in which case you can ignore the charging circuit side and just focus on safety cut out switches, crank position sensor, etc. but if the ECU fucked there's not much you can do about that.

<edit> soz, 2004 is carb Rolling Eyes At least you don't have to about the ECU Smile

It's carbed. Used wiring diagram to rewire most of it. Lights and starter motor work so surely the earth's are fine? It's turning just not sparking

Not sure if it's HISS but there's nothing to indicate that it is

It probably does have HISS, it was fitted to bikes from about 2001.

The other possible issue is that the original ignition probably has a resistor in it to drop the CDI voltage input to 9volts, most Chinese ignitions don't have it. This is a Honda anti hotwire thing and is routinely missed.

Just checked on Fowlers and the CBR600F 2004 UK model does have HISS.
