Hi,

So I've finally had it with the Tokico 6 pots and rebuilding the fuckers with new seals every 2 weeks is getting tiresome.

I understand that a fair few bikes came with 90mm spaced Nissin calipers but either eBay has gone to shit for bike parts, or they're rare as rocking horse shit.

Judging from this thread it seems like early B12 and RF9 calipers fit but I can't find any on eBay - just newer B12 Tokico shite. Apparently a few Triumphs came with 90mm calipers but so far I've only managed to find a mixture of 83mm and 100mm.

Are there other bikes that have the same caliper bolt spacing?
Is there somewhere better to look for second hand parts than ebay these days?
Perhaps someone has a set they're willing to sell?

Cheers

Blimey, they go for a few quid these days, I bought a set on ebay for a little over £40 with brand new unopened ferodo pads , though it was a while ago!

Be worth getting your google on,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/triumph-sprint-st-955i-Brake-Calipers/263703037031?hash=item3d65ed0467:g:270AAOSwgTJbAvgY

See if they will fit, I swear I remember reading about triumph calipers when looking for some for my 7r. Don't recall if it was good news (can use) or bad news, maybe email the guy and ask him to check the centre to centre spacing.

edit:

According to this breaker, they are 90mm....

The 90mm Nissin 6 pots are rare as rocking horse shit with hens teeth in. BUT if you can get hold of a set they are possibly the best axial calipers I have ever used.
IO had a set on th eTL before I went to a full radial set up, and I am now regretting selling them as they would have bolted straight on the Busa.

Samesies. The 2 pot brakes on my CB are better than the shit they put on this. (01)

I'm trawling ebay, can't seem to to find Nissin ones for any particular bike in reasonable state under £150, I don't mind if they say Triumph and found a couple for ~£100, waiting for sellers to respond about the 90mm spacing. Anyone know how much they're actually worth?

It's a bolt off bolt on job? No need for lines/bolts etc? (or is it recommended to change everything, I don't mind if it's not that expensive)

I’ve never understood this attitude to Tokico 6-pots. My ‘99 ZX6R has had them for 22 years. Around 2015 and 60k miles I bought a second hand set believing my brakes must be as poor as reported. I split them and used the best parts of both sets, cleaning them up and adding braided lines. There’s was no difference. The blue spots on the R1 I bought really showed up the Tokicos for bite but in an emergency I reckon they’d have me on the ground faster due to lock up. After a salty winter ride on the Kwack I rinse the bike with a watering can and roll the bike to remove water around the discs but that’s about it. Squeeze harder.

They do work well when the handle is almost pressed to the throttle. It's just a plain pita.
