Last week I fitted the new Nitron R1 shock to my VFR1200F. I'd previously fitted K Tech Linear Springs on the front (still deciding about a piston kit). I honestly can't describe just how much of an enormous difference it made. I'm 180cm tall and weigh 124kg in full kit and was maxing out the preload just to get anywhere near the required sag on the stock shock. I'm pretty sure this one is longer than the original or and has been wound out as the rear tyre now doesn't clear the ground on the centre stand (seems maybe 20mm higher) but it has MASSIVELY improved the turn in. It feels more like an 800 now and just glides over bumps yet is even more stable at high speed. Cost me £440 from a guy on the VFR facebook group who gets discount from Nitron.

Pic of the actual shock.....

Didn't bother with remote preload as I don't carry a pillion or much luggage and if I do there is enough room to use the tool that came with it.

This happened when i put two new yss rear shocks on a '90s cb500. For you it doesn't matter so much, having a shaft. But for me it was a PITA, being chain driven. Then someone said just turn the bars either full lock right or left. Turns out this was just enough to get the back wheel tilted to where I could comfortably rotate it. So if you haven't already, try that.

Had two VFR's and never touched the suspension. Always wonder how much of a difference I'd notice. Just going to stick with stock. I'm only 5ft7 and 10 stone. Doesn't feel so wrong that I'd want to change it.

An excuse for a photo. Very Happy The white one I had in 2013, still got the grey. Love the way the VFR looks and it goes like stink.

They feel smaller than that to ride due to the thinness of the bike and tank. Wouldn't like to try and pick it up from a drop though. Shocked

Only about 9kg more than a K1300 and not a lot of difference to many others of that ilk.

The rear isn't so bad for smaller riders but the front is pretty awful for understeer until springs are swapped if your're heavier. Albeit the damping on the Nitron is lightyears ahead of the stock shock.

I ordered a Nitron rear shock for the Striple at the end of September. The website states 2-3 week lead time, so after 3 1/2 weeks I dropped them an email. This was the response -

"Thank you for your email, we are currently awaiting a part to arrive. This has been scheduled for November."

Not sure if that's the part arriving, them building the shock, or it actually getting to me. They've got a great reputation so I'm hoping it's worth the wait, but not fantastic customer service given that I had to contact them, and even then they've been incredibly vague with dates.

Everything is made to your spec, but it is DEFINITELY worth the wait.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Quick email to say it'll be delayed would definitely improve customer service, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

Yeah, they probably don't even know the dates themselves, there are so many issues with the supply chain at the moment. I know a guy, runs a small upholstery firm, his foam supplier has so few drivers they're only delivering full loads. He doesn't order that much so they just won't deliver to him, at all. And God help Nitron if they're getting parts from the continent.

I'm happy to wait, if they're as good as everyone says I might have a VFR or two that could benefit from an upgrade. Very Happy
