17000 have made it across the channel this year.

It's 18,000 now.

More than 1,100 people made the perilous journey across the Channel in small boats on Friday and Saturday, as France accused Britain of failing to provide funds promised to tackle the problem.

After 10 days in which no crossings were possible, 624 people reached the UK in small boats on Friday – the fourth highest daily tally recorded during the current crisis – and 491 did so on Saturday. At lest 40 boats landed over the two days.

On Saturday, after a visit to Dunkirk, the French interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, said “not one euro has been paid” of the £55m Britain promised France to help tackle migrant crossings.

The home secretary recently threatened to withhold the funding unless more people were stopped from reaching the UK.

But the shadow home secretary, Nick Thomas-Symonds, said Priti Patel’s strategy of not paying up “clearly isn’t working”. He told Sky News: “The home secretary needs to come clean because every single person risking their lives in that dangerous sea crossing of the English Channel is one too many …

“I’ve always thought the home secretary needed to take a different approach. Whilst of course the patrols at the coast preventing people getting out on to the water and risking their lives is hugely important, what I fear the home secretary misses is the fact that nobody becomes a refugee in northern France. We need to be tackling the people smugglers and these vile criminal gangs further away from the coast as well.”

You have to wonder whether they’re fleeing in fear of their lives or pursuing the imaginary gravy train.

If this story is true and widespread you’d have to assume the latter.

Macron may well be the new Napoleon. However, the principle that refugees should seek asylum at the first, safe border crossing apparently doesn’t exist, so they’re migrating to countries where they think they’ll fare best. Those who speak the popular English language (thank you, Hollywood) or have relatives here seek to come to The UK. However, stuck in a dodgy hotel in Scarborough or a former army barracks is, it seems, worse then risking Taliban violence. Who’d have thought.

What do they expect? Throw some families out of their council houses to give to refugees?

I'm sorry, my way would be hotels, hostels or army barracks for free. If you want more, join the queues of people who have been waiting for years or go out and earn money to move on from where you are.

Possibly not the best home for this one - excusing the slight pun - but Tripadvisor have gone a bit....censorish.....over a hotel in Scarborough that's got a few interesting visitors at the moment Laughing

Stayed in the hotel while working away contracting in East Yorkshire

I caught scabies and can only presume it was from this filthy hell hole

Also caught a man deficating into a carrier bag !

What the hell is going on in this hotel.

I would not stay ever again!!

What a shame that the government would do this to a seaside town

Disgrace

Quote:
This is the worst hotel I’ve ever been in. The building is appalling, the rooms are dirty, the staff are surly and unresponsive, the place is full of uncontrolled refugee children, who are absolutely out of control and nobody is disciplining them

And you guessed it, those that asked for a refund were branded well racist Laughing

after booking a trip to england a few months back, we selected this hotel based on location and previous reputation. we were unaware that the govnt had turned the hotel into a staging center for migrants. when asked for a refund we were accused of being racists.

Quote:
checked in and up to the room we went. On the way I realised there were a lot of people just stood about while hundreds (or seemed like) of children raced around screaming and shouting, after plenty of "excuse me" etc we found the room. After squeezing past folk in we went. P**s up the walls and no quilt on the bed and these said children running in and out of the room! We decided we didn't want to stay there and headed back downstairs (same carry on as going up!) I overheard people talking angrily about the kids and people just stood about, they were refugees and more buses were just parking up. I didn't have a problem with this, I just felt we should have been made aware that the hotel would be this 'hectic' then we could decide if the noise would be a problem for us. I spoke to the man on the desk and asked for a refund and explained why.. He then started shouting at me calling me a racist!

You know, leafy Surrey villages, that sort of thing. At the moment, they're just destroying any reputation, small UK seaside towns have left.
Can't go abroad and UK hotels are full of fugees. No wonder campervans and glamping are taking off.

Many seem oblivious at just how many hotels up and down the country are fully booked to this lot. It's well into the hundreds of hotels.

It's hardly holiday season and they will keep the hotels solvent over winter.

From last month...

"Some of the 7,000 Afghan refugees who are currently being housed in hotels are likely still to be in emergency hotel accommodation by the end of the year, the head civil servant in the Home Office indicated under questioning from MPs.

Matthew Rycroft, the permanent secretary at the department, said on Wednesday he hoped to make progress with the process of moving refugees from Afghanistan from hotels into more permanent accommodation within two months, but added that “clearly for some people it will take a lot longer”.

The 7,000 Afghan refugees in hotels are in addition to a further 8,000 asylum seekers who were already being housed in hotels before the sudden evacuation of families from Kabul in August."

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/22/some-afghan-refugees-to-be-housed-in-uk-hotels-for-months

From August...

"Housing migrants in hotels is set to cost the taxpayer up to £70 million this year, Priti Patel has admitted.

The Home Secretary has told the home affairs select committee that the Home Office expects to spend at least £40 million and up to £70 million on hotels for migrants in the current financial year.

Some hotels have been block booked until January next year, despite a pledge earlier this year to end the practice.

...

The most recent official figures show that around 8,700 migrants were accommodated in nearly 90 different hotels across the UK in February, compared with 1,200 in March last year."

Was that testimony in front of a select committee or a trial?

Boat People.
Most folk who rant about the illegals floating over the channel to U.K. Heaven from France (seemingly unchecked) don't realise the substantial numbers of Zlamik men prepared to stop at nothing to make that crossing.
Its a tsunami of klatty kunts.

The success rates for the sailings seem excellent too, as I've not seen any reports of casualties washed up or wrecked dinghy being found along our beaches.
Perhaps the frogs get the flotsam washed up on their side.

Give me a clue, a few pointers maybe and I'll play that role for you big boy. I've lurked for a bit and have no idea who that sock is.

I worked out who backscuttler is, but he appears to still be here. Was rebel the kid who welded on his front sprocket on a Honda 125?

rebel was a right winger who was quite entertaining. unfortunately he got banned for mentioning jews.

Oh dear, oh dear...

Migrants heading for UK die after boat sinks

Priti Vacant said the government's Nationality and Borders Bill was the "long-term solution" to tackling the issue "on top of a raft of operational and diplomatic work".

Poor choice of words!

Ive been given the tug for a job supporting refugees to resettle. Im tempted, it looks interesting and theres a good chance it will be very chaotic with lots of whacky situations given some of the "hotels" im likely to be dealing with, like a mash-up between Rising damp and Faulty towers with some Crossroads thrown in for good measure.

Yes, in the same day that the Royal Yachting Association is advising people to report and stand off rather than rescuing people at risk of dying, because the new law proposed by Priti Vacant would make their members criminally liable for people trafficing if they do.

Im just watching channel 4 news, i cant believe the idiocy of what ive just seen. The idiot C4 reporter reporting from a french beach, just encouraged a rather distressed looking woman to join her child on one of those dinghys. She probably was realising in the last moments what a stupid thing she was about to do but being carried along by the group shes with. What a stupid bstard the guy was, instead of advising her to think again, perhaps actually apeal to better judgement the tit actually tells her to join her child on the dinghy. What an absolute arse, im tempted to make a complaint.
