|
|
G'day all and greetings
New to the forum here.
I use my bike mainly for commuting between home and office, (about 40 mins each way)
and almost every time I carry my Thinkpad T-series laptop in my backpack which sits on my backbone.
As all off you who've done this, it gets my back really sore after about >30 mins,
because the laptop is straight whereas our backbone is naturally curved.
So I'm wondering if there's a trick to alleviate this?
Or is there a special backpack for this particular purpose?
TIA

I bought this from Halfords for £25:
https://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-accessories/bike-bags-baskets/halfords-commuter-backpack-184574.html
I commute 12 miles each way on a 125cc shithorse with that backpack with my 15" laptop, 12.9" ipad pro, my lunch and some extra socks and I don't have anything bad to say about that bag.
Could be better: could be worse. It does a job.
What kind of bike do you drive? I sit in an upright position on a naked commuter bike so I don't have a curvature problem. Are you on a bike that forces you into a semi-tucked position? ____________________ PRESENT: 2018 BMW S1000XR SE Sport.

Several manufacturers make rucksacks with a meshed frame which puts a gap between you and the bag. I’m a big fan of these.
Here’s my current one (though I must have bought it in a sale). I’ve had several Deuter Aircomfort 28L bags but they’ve changed the design. I think I’ve seen Ospreys or Lowe Alpine in Cotswold Outdoors with the same frame system.

I have absolutely no issues riding in my Kriega R25 and R30. I use them as my travel bags too when I used to jet off to europe for 2-3 days for work. 15.6" HP Pavillion went in just fine.
I also use my R3 Hydro and R20 for mountain biking. Distributes the load nice and securely across your chest rather than shoulders and lower back.
Pricey, but worth it. I've had my R20 for 10 years and the 25 and 30 for 6 and 8 years, respectively. ____________________ The Tot 2007 Yamaha R1 4C8 2002 Yamaha FZS1000 Fazer &
