Been lurking and reading old posts on here since I got my CBT and a secondhand CB125F in september, with a view to using it for commuting and practice for doing DAS eventually, hopefully sometime next year when I can organise some time off work.
Kept reading old posts on here that if you have 125 then doing the 15 quid Mod 1 is the best and cheapest way to practice for, er, doing the Mod 1!
Anyway got all brave last week and booked a last-minute cancellation Mod 1 for before work this morning and ended up passing! Smile
So cheers all and now I've got the momentum going and the Mod 2 booked for late december. Mr. Green

Ugh guys did this guy literally just shoot himself in the foot by using a 125cc for MOD 1? He will need to re-do it if he wants the A license right?

EDIT: Congratulations on passing first time btw, something I wasn't able to achieve myself!

Yes, going to have to redo it when I go for full 'A' but I now have had the training experience of doing the test for the princely sum of £15.50!
It was worth it I think, particularly as I did get 3 minors that the clipboard chap talked me through afterwards.
The main thing is I can now stop worrying about the hazard avoidance which actually turned out to be dead easy.

well done and glad it worked out as money well spent, being under actual test conditions is invaluable experience

i had a practice session on the site a day or so before mine, could do it all perfectly well, on the day of my test though nerves got the better of me, not sure where from as i felt fine going into it, mid figure of 8 it just came from nowhere, passed 2nd go

Had similar, I nailed the other slow maneuvers without over-thinking it but on the u-turn for some reason I paid too much attention to 'there's a guy with a clipboard watching'. Had a big attack of nerves wobbled and almost dropped the blooming thing! Got a minor for the wobble, he did tell me after the test he really thought I was going to put a foot down.

yea it was a strange one for me, did loads of practice on site, must have done each thing 5-10 times, could do em all, but on the day it was like someone had threw a brick at me over the fence, felt fine all morning and even the first few bits of the test

Same with myself, we practised the MOD 1 on the Sunday before mine at the actual test centre using the same course. I did everything flawlessly and then on the actual day of the test put a foot down going too tight on the figure of eight Crying or Very sad

You know it's a funny thing, I do believe I was very nervous during MOD1 (2nd time I got it). On MOD2 I was also nervous but upon riding away out of the centre and out of the next junction, I remember quite vividly how my nerves just... vanished.

I thought I had fucked my MOD 2 right at the start by keeping my signal on too long! I went the entire way through my MOD 2 thinking I had failed and that I should concentrate on it being practice for my re-test then when I got back to the centre I was kicking my own arse for failing only to be told that I passed Laughing

On my first attempt at Mod1 I went through the speed trap for the emergency stop at 47km/h. 48 or 49 km/h would have got me a minor fault. Instead I got another go. I was fast enough on the second run but completely forgot to apply the front brake. It took a long time to stop and that was that.

On my second attempt I rode through the slalom thinking to myself that was the best I had ever done it. I then turned into the figure eights and didn’t speed up a little and I looked down. Before I knew it I had put a foot down. The rest of the test was fine but of little consequence; I had failed again.

Third time was the charm; cruised through it and managed to get a booking for Mod 2 two days later. Passed that with a couple of minors, one for pulling away and not cancelling the indicator (I didn’t press the switch hard enough) and one for getting stuck in neutral on the approach to a roundabout. Happy enough with that.
