8% for bikes or 5% for cars, although for high value bikes they will use the 5%

Not sure.

They will take a bite at both ends and charge commission on the sale as well, but don't know if it's capped.

Quite fascinating to see the levels of corrosion that it has in spite of itnever seeing the road. The porous chrome will always be an issue without a coating but the frame paint and the lacquered alloy engine?

Thirty nine years sitting in a garden shed is not ideal. You can bet it has sprung a few leaks in that time which can often be there for a month or more in the winter before being discovered.

Right everyone, good luck with this one,

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/#/aa1=1&MR1_length=441&w1=list&m1=1

It ranges from piles of Auto Jumble (s)crap, through bicycle and “motorised tandems” to what might be a boat…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/55/?category=list&length=441&page=1

Scooters…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/74/?category=list&length=441&page=1

‘peds…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/75/?category=list&length=441&page=1

…post-apocalyptic zombie swamp bikes…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/314/?category=list&length=441&page=1

..to a presumably ‘ironic’ “rolling chassis”…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/333/?category=list&length=441&page=1

…and all the way up to some insanely priced premium product…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/403/?category=list&length=441&page=1

Apparently he was ‘the German Barry Norman’.

Also a shed load of ex-race bikes like this…

https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26978/lot/452/?category=list&length=441&page=1

Although some have more reasonable estimates, like £5k!

So, tell me what you fancy and why, or what I should be going for.

On first run through I reckon this would be ok for the money…

Brightwells 28th October and a couple of familiar lots in there, including the Guzzi California that only got a £1,350 bid and the XT250 which was bid up to £1,955 but must have a reserve close to the ‘estimate’.

https://www.brightwellslive.com/timedauctions/index/5205

A bit of a questionable lot here…

https://www.brightwellslive.com/lot/details/544257

As the thing says ‘ Reg No: F162RVW’ but the pictures are of H306GLH and it’s not a 600.

NBR, but seriously tempted by Lot 54, at no reserve that could be a bargain.

The only other bike that I've immediately been smitten with just off looks is the Ducati SuperSport 950:

Which is also just simply beautiful:

They both get me hard for different reasons. They're both absolutely beautiful to me but for different reasons. The Katana is going to be much more brutal than the Ducati - it has more power, it's more upright and it has chiselled hooligan-ish looks. The Ducati is just beautiful in the classic sense of the word plus it's red and it's a Ducati.

I want them both. I can't afford them both. But I could afford one of them. When I get a garage I am going to test ride both then make my decision. I did consider the new Suzuki GT tourer but when I think about it, I am never going to do a lot of touring and should get a bike more suited to my use.
