To a great extent it's been a UK company in most things other than name for as long as I've been there. I worked for Shell Tankers (UK) Ltd and then Shell Transport and Trading, both with headquarters in London, One at Shell Centre and the other at Shell Mex House.
This move is political and certainly financial though. Shell was absolutly spitting nails at the Dutch governments orders for it to cut back it's green house shit by 45%. It would put them in a really bad place in comparison with it's peers, the other oil giants, so I suspect this is the main reason for the move. The Cloggoes cutting off their nose to spite their face me thinks.
Earlier this year, a court in the Netherlands ruled that by 2030 Shell must cut its CO2 emissions by 45% compared to 2019 levels. The decision only applies in the Netherlands and Shell said it would appeal against the ruling.
Very much bugger all to do with Brexit as much as I would like to wave that point in front of remainers.
Anyway, my shares have gone up. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

You say it's nothing to do with Brexit, but they could have moved elsewhere in the EU, instead of leaving the EU for the UK. |
As I said above, To a great extent it's been a UK company in most things other than name for as long as I've been there
The infrastructure is here. The main office personnel are here. Why the fuck would they move 10's of 1000's of people off to a new country when they don't have to. Shell have a presence in many countries, they will still have a presence in Holland but at present, in doing very little except a name change, having the lawyers earn their pay and moving a few top dogs from the Hague to London it's buisness as usual.
That's my take on it anyway. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |
