You know you're getting old when the people you've followed from the start of their careers are retiring!
Is Vale the GOAT, he's certainly the the Greatest of his time, crap at qualifying but was always there on Sunday carving his way through the field with relative ease.
My abiding memory is from a long time ago, can't remember where it was, but it involved two strokes, I think it was 500's but could have been 250's. Anyway Valentino has taken the lead early on and is leading by a considerable margin. For whatever reason Vale slows down to a snails pace and lets the guy in second take the lead. At the time, Toby and Jules surmised that Vale wanted to see where the other guy was quick and whether his tyres were holding up. Valentino followed the other guy around for a few laps, saw whatever he wanted to see, promptly took the lead again and disappeared to win by a country mile.
What a lot of people forget is that Rossi single handedly dragged MotoGP out of the doldrums and back into the limelight. For a while he was MotoGP, without him I doubt we'd have MotoGP as it is today!

They came up with a stat today, 50% of the MotoGP grid either weren't born or were born in the same year that Rossi started Grand prix racing!

Let's not forget that Thomas Luthi is retiring after this meeting, I remember his first 125 Grand prix, as a 16 year old.
I feel even older now!

I know it's 2022 (I won't be starting a MotoGP thread) but thought I'd drop this pic of Marc Marquez in training.

Finger crossed for him...the Championship will be all the better.

Honestly hope he can make a proper recovery, I suspect he's the only person who will consistently be able to give the Ducati's a proper headache this year - assuming he's full fitness.

I do have my doubts too, I read last week that Honda have Lecuona on standby to help with testing duties and possibly the first few races of the year too, which suggests that maybe they aren't fully confident either?
