You can't... The Bilderburgers have scheduled another meeting shortly to discuss what they're going to do with us minions.

I reckon the plan for break the NHS is going well, once it's gone they'll privatise the lot just as they've always wanted. It's pretty much 'not fit for purpose' now anyway, so they're nearly there.

China has pretty much succeeded in bringing the US to it's knees, by convincing all the millenials that communism is great, and that the capitalist regime needs the be removed. The UK is following closely behind, slowed only by the scummy EU.

Looks like amazon is about to disappear up it's own rectum by refusing to accept visa credit cards starting in January. So a major retailer refusing to accept the most popular credit card. Just after christmas when people have huge debit balances and so are pretty unlikely to be able to change providers.

I use amazon but I don't feel I need to use it strongly enough to go through the hassle of changing to a different credit card. Is amazon bigger than visa?

I suspect they are overestimating their own market power.

What if I buy Amazon gift cards at the local supermarket with my visa credit card.... Thinking

They're not the only ones dumping Visa, various banks are moving customers over to Mastercard. The various banks include Santander, Monzo, HSBC, NatWest, RBS, Ulster Bank and Coutts to name a few.

I think this story is only just getting started as more banks will follow suit and other retailers will be watching closely to see how it plays out for Amazon.

Even little Starling are getting in on the act. I received my new Mastercard debit card this morning. The last one was Visa.

It'll be a cold day in hell when I use a debit card over the internet given the current state of internet security and card fraud.

If fraud is going to take place, I'd far rather it was someone elses money being stolen. With a debit card it's my money and I only have a assurance defrauded funds would be returned. With a credit card, I can just refuse to pay the bill rather than have to get into an argument of if they are going to return my money.

I don't see how it's a credit card versus debit card issue both can be visa or mastercard.

Well, the works ones are charge cards and so not actually credit cards but not debit cards.

Waiting to find out if Amazon is off the list of companies we can use....

Sure, but it would be more hassle to me to change credit card providers than to stop using amazon. One of these things takes effort.

My bank card without any fanfare got changed from Visa to Mastercard so (maybe not immediately) the change will not be of your own making.

Amazon get flack but the business model is unbeatable with next day delivery the norm and (usually) excellent customer service e.g easy returns.

So Amazon don't like the charges applied by UK Visa companies, the same reason Ebay stopped using Paypal, the credit card issuers are getting too greedy. Sounds fair enough, to me. If you don't like the charges take your business elsewhere..... isn't that how it's supposed to be, I know it's what I do when I dissagree with prices.

Sure, but as a vendor, you also need to make it easy for your customers and If I go into a shop which doesn't take the form of payment I have in my pocket, I don't rush about finding their preferred means of payment then go back, I go to a different shop.

I've had to do it before with a cafe that refused to take cash during lockdown. Card only apparently. Didn't have a card on me so no sale, ate elsewhere.

Agreed, but I suppose Amazon have weighted that up and decided they'll gain more by NOT using Visa than business lost due to people taking there business elsewhere.

I don't, but I know a lot of people have more than one card registered with big online companies, so I assume Amazon will just remove any links and images related to Visa and you just won't be able to see or select it any more. I also notice that Amazon no longer use Paypal either.
